It's not even about having a great hitting team at this point. It's about plate discipline and putting together good at bats. How many innings were we playing from behind, only to hand the opposing pitcher an 8 pitch inning. If you can't hit the pitcher, at least run his pitch count up a little bit. Holy shite.

There isnt a doubt in my mind javi will be fired one day. It may be a card CPM uses to save his own job though. He really isnt good at anything and has zero experience.

Why have a hitting coach then.

True. School could save a lot of money if they cutback on fictitious coaches. Just saying.

You know, maybe PM was talking about over-coaching. You get a kid who was an exceptional hitter out of HS and you try to change him.

I was convinced both days if we could just get to the bullpen we could win this thing since their lack of depth would eventually show, but that isn't happening when your guys are getting mowed down 1-2-3.

I agree. Stoney Brook had amazing plate discipline and every single guy on that team had BEAUTIFUL swings. Even their Freshman guys. No fricking way SB has the resources to recruit better players than LSU or coach them up. But apparently it looked that way.

SB pitchers really put it over the top for me. The day 3 pitcher was absolutely garbage.

If the hitting coach position is overrated, then let's not waste money on one at all. In my opinion, it is time for the AD to give CPM a David Cutliffe ultimatum: fire your assistant coach or I will fire you all.

This team peaked half way through the SEC and regressed as it went along.

PM can spew that crap, but i'm thiking (hoping) some school all of a sudden needs a coach, and hires javi. similar to the way miles sheds ineffective coaches.

It's not the first time he's thrown his players under the bus. He has done nothing to make me change my position that he is a whiny bitch most of the time.

I don't know. It's more than that though with Javi Sanchez for me. He does a lot more than just being hitting coach and he's definitely bad at the other two descriptions.

SB either recruits better than LSU or coaches their players up better. Or both. Take your pick. Either shouldn't be happening with the resources LSU has at their disposal. Somebody needs to fall on the sword. Me thinks it's Javi.

And honestly, I'm starting to not like PM and thinking he's overrated. Especially how his comments come off like he's throwing his players under the bus...

So if kids can either hit or not, is he basically admitting he did a shitty job evaluating and recruiting these guys? That's comforting.

Didn't you hear the party line being spewed by the media lately? All the recruiting woes fall on Grewe. Not saying Grewe was worth a shite at all, but apparently the bus has room under it for more than just players.

This. There is no way that he can possibly with a straight face say that hitting coaches mean nothing. All of the Stony Brook players except the 9-hole, who homered on Friday, were hitting over .300. They worked every at-bat fouling off close pitches until they got a pitch they could handle and they drove it. Their coach is teaching them something our kids haven't seen. PM's statement is ridiculous.

I'm not sure. I know his first year here he wasn't, because the volunteer assistant can't recruit off campus. After that he was full time assistant, with no recruiting experience, no scouting experience, and only one year of coaching experience (the previous year as vol. asst).
