Mainieri leaning to start Nola vs SLU? quote: Wtf is wrong with playing matchups? A lot when its for a game that doesnt exist yet.

Also, nola is the best pitcher in the country. Teams should be matching up to us, not the other way around.

one more note. You can't afford to lose game 1 or 2 in your regional if you do you could be knocked out. Games 1 and 2 you must throw your best guys. Once you are 2-0 in the regional you have to win 1 of 2 to move on. So you can take chances in your third game. Don't take them in game 1 or 2 and risk having to play 5 games to move on.

I'd rather save Nola for Sunday than do this. I'd honestly be OK with throwing him Saturday or Sunday. I just hope rain doesn't cut short his or anyone else's start (other teams will have to deal with this too).

But seriously, whatever his majesty PM thinks is best works for me. As documented, every decision he makes is the correct one.

dont bring stupid shite like this into the topic.

I have no problem questioning the decision. i myself would throw Poche. But he has several legit reasons to throw Nola. People acting like its the biggest mistake ever made are wrong in that sense.

What?

Mainieri has to make his mind up before the Houston/Bryant game is even played. So I'd say there's some reason to question this unnecessary forecasting.

The only move I would have a problem with is starting Bouman. That's just being stupid and asking for trouble. Nola and Poche are clearly #1 and #2, they have the most experience starting this year. Let them get the first 2 wins while going deep into both games to keep the bullpen rested for Sunday. Plus, if we start Bouman on tomorrow, then we are in a situation where we may have to start him Friday next week too since he'd be the only one with a full week of rest.

I have full confidence in Poche, so I don't care if we start him against SLU or saturday against (probably) Houston.

I completely agree with everything you said, you'd notice that if you read my entire post. I don't have a problem with throwing Nola on Sat. or Sun. and think it's silly that people are so hung up on this quote (though it's par for the course).

Just trying to have some fun. frick that, I guess.

Where did it say he was leaning nola? I read the article with that quote in it. It stated he was still deciding between them.

He is still deciding. It's all smoke and mirrors (I hope).

I think he was just giving reasons that he is considering nola.

I would hope people would understand that it was tongue in cheek.

Again, I'm cool with starting Nola on Sat. or Sun. and think people are making something out of nothing with this quote.
