Change is coming. Formula of Burrow + Brady's influence + solid OL play + Chase/Jefferson/Marshall + Emery/CEH/Davis-Price = 40 pts per game.

PRECEDENT:

- Teams that qualified for the first five College Football Playoffs (started in '14) have averaged 39.4 pts, 483.3 yds, and 6.8 offensive TDs.

- Teams that won the national championship have averaged 40.1 pts, 482.2 yds, and 7.3 offensive TDs.

I’ll take us just being able to complete a slant across the middle.

I’ll just take field goal range against Alabama.

No shite.

Makes you wonder why our coaches can’t seem to put them in position to do just that.

Because the coaches, like ESPN hate LSU.

Offensively, there just hasn't been enough creativity & ability to attack Alabama's defense over the last 6 match ups. Just poor offensive game planning outside of 2012 when the offense really had Bama on their heels especially in 2nd half.

Good stuff. We'll see what our guys are made of starting next week.

I'm no math major, but even if you missed every single PAT, 6.8 TDs x 6 points == 40.8 points. That's more than 39.4.

2013 game plan was fine when we had a good offense.

And the only Team from the SEC “Bama” has the easiest schedule compared to other SEC teams. If LSU was in any other conference LSU would be in the playoff talk yearly..

40 pts per game would come easily in the Big 12.....ACC.....PAC...

The offensive line didn't hold up their end & got pushed around in that 2nd half. On the other side of the ball, DJ Welter got abused vs the run.

Are there any other ways to score points besides offensive TDS?

Defensive TDs, defensive field goals, offensive fiald goals, Special team TDs, safeties, and special team field goals.

There’s a few more, but I don’t feel like listing them.

At least 35ppg and 450 ypg and we’re in business. I’ve been thinking that should be our annual target for a while now.

If ever there was a recent team to do it, it’s this one.

I agree and that is where I am, 35-38 ppg and 450+ ypg should get us in the playoffs. However, what makes those stats more than enough is if the defense can be elite and give us 13.5 ppg, 285 ypg split 90 ypg rushing and 195 passing. Furthermore, if we can have +16 net in turnovers for the season, then we make it into the playoffs.

yes, but that's not the issue here with the math. The average points are less than what the offensive TDs alone give you.
