I just don't see how Houston would have the time to do these moves at this point. Their number 1 priority is still Aiken. I can't imagine them having enough time to finally work out a deal with him and then still be able to get a deal in place with Marshall.

Probably just wishful thinking on my part, but it would be a challenge for them to complete all this in 1 day.

If I were the Astros, I would want to get Aiken signed for sure, hopefully with enough left over to get Nix at $1.5 million. Marshall would be nice, but Aiken is the focus. The Astros can't afford to let Aiken walk, they stand to lose way too much if that happens.

Does it strike anyone as almost hypocritical of the Astros if they sign Mac at the final hour without getting him to undergo a physical, all the while this whole situation revolving around the several medical diagnoses of Aiken?

Oh yeah, I forgot Marshall hasn't done a physical. All the more reason to not sign him, right, Astros?

And that was kinda my point. They went through all this trouble with the medical issues with Aiken. I don't see how they will now just ignore that now for Marshall. Reports last week were that Houston wanted Marshall to come to have a physical done but that he declined. Of course later he said he hadn't been contacted at all so who knows.

Nothing of substance. He's really seemed to join in as part of the LSU "family" though, so to speak. He's tweeted stuff about McMcullen, Bregman, Grayson Byrd. At this point, I would be shocked if he left.

Yeah, but we all know how much that means if he has a big offer in front of him. I really want him to stay, but I'm tempering my excitement until the deadline passes.

@jimcallisMLB: My gut feel is Aiken, Newcomb, Fedde all sign & @Astros also get 5th-rder Nix & 21st-rder Marshall done. @MLBDraft @Angels @Nationals

Same here. We keep telling ourselves each situation is unique and then we end up getting screwed just the same every time.

Wouldn't it be nice if they came with a 2 million offer and he told them no. Like some of those players that go to Vandy.
