That is what I am praying happens. Aiken takes until the very last minute, inks his deal, but that leaves no time for them to get Marshall signed hahaha Houston will have to up their offer to get Aiken signed earlier, obviously.
ETA: CheerWine, it would be nice for Marshall just to come out and tell the Stros thanks but no thanks. But he would be insane not to listen if they really do pony up a $2+ million offer.

I have a hard time believing that "time" will be the reason the Astros won't sign Mac.

If they go back and forth with Aiken right until the last minute, it very well could lead to not enough time. Now they will probably have all his papers already drawn up, but still, it could come down to a time crunch. I think it will be. And to think we thought all this shite was over 2 weeks ago?

Does anyone believe they will NOT sign Aiken?
I know they then lose the money. Just a general question

They'll ink Aiken somehow, someway. They stand to lose too much if it doesn't happen.

I feel the same. I have been saying this since original Aiken agreement fell through... That the Stros went back to lowball Aiken in an attempt to sign all 3 in Aiken, Nix, and Marshall. I think they realize they were pushing the envelope too much, they go back to original agreements with Nix, maybe a little less for Aiken, but sign those two. That will leave them just a little short of signing Marshall, and he stays in BR.
Luhnow would get ripped to shreds for not signing any of them. I do not think he walks away empty handed.

They will sign Aiken it's just how much. I don't see him accepting that 3.1 million offer unless something is seriously wrong with his elbow. Heck the Hoffman kid from ECU actually has an injury requiring surgery and he still got slot money.

This is the part that makes it so aggrevating to watch. Stros state he has elbow ligament damage, but do not disclose what. Aikens advisor reports that Aiken does not have any injury. What the hell is the truth? Haha And that is how we find ourselves in this stalemate.

Great point.

The fact that we are sweating out a 21st round pick to what will likely be as much money as the top 5 picks in the draft, says just how much is wrong with the process/system.

Shows that Luhnow does have alternative motives (Marshall) that are effecting Aikens signing. Just wake me up when Saturday gets here.

And it's actually better than it used to be.

Yep.
Or a 30th rounder last year signing for what a 4th rounder would get at slot.

PA backing players and MLB official saying Stros have done nothing wrong. No surprise there. This could mark the beginning of a physical requirement or something of that nature in the future.

I thought they had decided to do that after the situation with the A&M pitcher a few years ago. Guess not.
