The dude is horrible at working in commercial announcements while action is going on. Often Ronnie Rantz would have to "catch up" with the action after Rollins finally shut up after 2 or 3 pitches had happened. I find myself screaming at the TV, "Shut up! Shut up!"
I gotta get a life.

quote:I think Rantz adds a lot to the game especially his comments regarding pitchers. He can point out some things I miss about the pitchers' body language or delivery motion.
at least they're knowledgeable about our team.
Regarding L. Rollins, I just wish he would stop inhaling helium before he talks......

he had basically given ucla the game in the 7th and was talking in definite terms that LSU was going to have to play 3 games to win the regional
That was Jim Hawthorne. And it was in like the top of the 6th.

Rollins' best quote so far this regional was during the UCLA/Kent State game when he was breaking the news of John Wooden dying.
He said something along the lines of "the greatest college basketball coach in history is now gone."
A long fly ball cut him off right after that sentence and he yelled:
"This one might be gone also."

Lynn Rollins is a helluva nice guy and I appreciate the work he does for LSUA.
He did the Alexandria Aces' radio games up here for years. That's more his niche. Admittedly, his style played well with the multitude of uneducated rednecks in central Louisiana.
As much as I like Lynn personally, I would not EVER want to see him become the "voice of the Tigers."
My dream--farfetched, I know--when Hawthorne hangs them up, voluntarily or involuntarily, is to see Jim Henderson slide behind the LSU microphone.

MY favorite all time Rollins quote came after Byrd made a one handed grab in the SEC championship game in 2007.
"And Byrd just reached out there with that wide wingspan and grasped it in those talons"

I like Ronnie Rantz doing the game. I wish he'd set up some kind of rotation with Doug Thompson, Patrick Coogan, and Ben McDonald to call games with him instead of Lynn.
You know Ronnie has had so many
and
moments while sharing the booth with Lynn Rollins

Absolutely. You are still ON Honkus! How do you do it? Actually, I don't think I want to know.

I was wondering if they had to be neutral since they're the exclusive broadcasters for the regional... but nope, they're cheering for LSU.

Nothing's more genuine than an unbiased homer.

My favorite was 05 or 07 Alabama football game:

Oh he has some gems. I like him though for some crazy reason
If we could get a good PBP guy paired with Hannagriff I would be in heaven. He knows so many useless stats and random LSU knowledge it is INSANE. Easily my favorite guy to call any LSU sport.
