what if UL plays LSU in basketball?

If fail to make it out of our bracket, or if we lose the championship in 3, my level of disappoint will be about the same.

I agree with that. I think the #4 seeding hurt us that way.

From watching UNC and USC we can beat both teams.
NC State without Rodon is very average.
UCLA will be a tough opening opponent. Ignore there batting averages, they still generate pressure on the opponent and their pitching is very good plus they have Omaha experience in that park.

Other bracket
Indiana's offense was pretty impressive in Tallahassee but their pitching was awful.
Louisville looks the part as well and they have some power arms.
MSU is getting hot at right time and Oregon State is most of the same team that played at Box last year plus they've added more pitching. If you sat through regional last year, OSU is a pesky team that can beat anyone in this field.

I think the PAC 12 was probably a little underated going into tourney. Stanford with Appel would have been a tough out in any regional but they did not make it. Arizona defending champ did not make it.

Tigers all the way, it's like those dudes who rep Duke or UNC that go to LSU but really have no affiliation with them.

you could argue Oregon State and UL are as hot as anyone right now. So, if LSU were in that bracket facing those two, it'd look like a tough row to hoe.

Everyone is likely going to be a tough out in a first game. I look at it as, which teams drop off a good bit going into that 2nd game due to them having only one ace. Weakest 2nd game teams are probably NCSU and Indiana.

Probably not a real big diff right now in the brackets for LSU, considering we don't get Rodon in game 1.

Maybe in the totality of our side of the bracket, but Louisville is the most dangerous team in this tournament not named LSU.

We can agree to disagree; Oregon State will come out of the other side.

NC State won't be throwing their #1 ace against LSU

They will if they make it out of the loser's bracket

USCe lots of experince but this team is not as good as they where when they were at-least runners up.

IMO, they are probably the second best team that LSU has played this year.

They have six players with their OBP 70 points higher than their AVG and five of them have an OBP 100 points higher than their AVG.

I really want no part of them. I want them out. Go Tar Heels.

Are you kidding me? LSU's side is probably easier. Louisville and Indiana are playing their best baseball right now. Plus, Oregon St. has been there before. State isn't a pushover either.

My thoughts exactly.

There's a reason each team made it to Omaha

Agree, but it is very well-timed for us.

Let's assume UNC wins today (50/50 IMO). The first game will be the two big dogs pitching vs. one another. That'll be ESPN's self-proclaimed "pitching matchup of the year" and they may be right. Needless to say, we likely will not see either team pull a "save him until 2nd round." Our opponent, UCLA, has two good arms but after all of the studs we have faced this year, I am not that concerned. The Bruins appear hot, but looking at how they did against the top 50, they'd certainly be underdogs vs. Nola.

If we can get to NC State in second round, I think we could rough them up. Rice should have. Meanwhile, the OTHER side of the bracket is full of mostly hotter tricky teams -- three of whom can hit lights out. I was very impressed with L'ville pitching.

I dunno...if we can just beat UCLA and then winner of UNC/State game, I think we are very probable to advance with the extra rest. Meanwhile, who else does not want SC to get to Omaha simply because of our track record vs. them up there? They are the ONE team I just do not like us playing and perhaps the 2/3 they took from us at the Box might have had something to do with that.

* Also, people complained about our seeding in the regionals, but what an easy road we had compared to Vandy or South Carolina. Not only was ULL our 2 seed, instead of a big-name GA Tech or Clemson, but our future opponent was not scary, either. VT did not worry me and OU ended up proving how weak that Blacksburg regional was -- almost as much as ours. We got lucky and got a 2nd seed, red-headed stepchild that we had already intimidated earlier in the year. Vandy and SC ended up getting ACC 2 seeds.

Bottom line, we got the best luck so far of any team in the bracket.

I don't. And also because of the fact that they are the only team to beat us 2 out of 3 all season long. Frick South Carolina.

It's Omaha. No team is easy. Doesn't matter what bracket you're in.

2/3 doesn't worry me as much as who they are in Omaha. Remember in '09 when we lost 2/3 to both Illinois and Tennessee at home -- neither of whom made the postseason. I'm not wanting to face them given the track record and not wanting them to have a shot at 3 titles in 4 years. I usually root for the SEC, but would rather Florida or Ole Miss be there instead of them. God, that '04 elimination game was the writing on the wall for Smoke (actually it was there already). If I remember correctly, SC had one-half of one of their big innings that lasted an hour.

At this point, I should think the other teams are more worried about LSU than anyone else. The Tigers smoked Oklahoma in 2 and were the first team to qualify. Undefeated in regionals & supers. They have the highest total of wins in the country. If McMullen is OK, they'll be a full strength.

Tigers shouldn't be afraid of anyone left in either bracket.
