Obviously you iudiots don't understand a fricking thing. Universities are being cut to the poinr that there is no sense in having these schools. You could take the money that you are wasting sdpending on as half arse schooland plow some opf it back into LSU. God you people are so stupid and annoying. Total fricking retards.

You are a complete moron. Those schools are HUGE in those areas as it allows those students to stay close to home and not have to travel far from home to get an education. So an education isn't as important as a band and a larger stadium that already holds 90,000+, right?
Did I say that you're a moron?

Yo Gramps, It looks like the Evan Williams has kicked as is affecting your spelling. Time to hit the hay and wipe this one off the books. Tomorrow is a new day for you sir and hopefully you won't continue to post such gobbly asian.

there are too many 4 year state colleges in the university for the number of people that reside there. With budgets being strained, closing a couple would actually save money for the state.
LSUE is only a 2 year school (think nursing program may actually be 4 though). So you are saying they should drop LSUS and LSUA to 2 year schools with the idea that LSUA is close to LA College and LSUS is close to LA Tech?

You can twist it anyway you want but you and your argument are pathetic. Only way they would close would be state budget issues, and that sir would be a tragedy. Thanks and have a nice day.

I would look at combining Tech and ULM. The schools are only 31 miles apart and it would be cheaper to combine into one school than two separate. Leave LSUS and in the other corner of the state you have the combo ULM/Tech.
South Louisiana is a little more difficult because the bulk of the population lives in that part of the state, but it should be considered. It seems like every town in Louisiana has a 4 year state college and that does run up the costs. All of the buildings that must be maintained, cooled, heated, the grounds and other items would be saved by combining onto one campus a couple of schools.
I believe in higher education but it can be offered more efficiently in Louisiana.

If this were to happen, the money definitely wouldn't need to be redirected into athletics or any axillary services. That said, if things continue to worsen, reducing one or more of the programs back to their pre-1976 state (as a 2-year school) wouldn't be a terrible idea if you must continue to make extensive cuts (and this proved to actually provide significant cost savings). In my opinion every effort needs to be made to maintain the integrity of the main LSU campus. It is after all the flagship university.

This is one of the dumbest posts I've seen here. Congratulations.

What we need to do is take a page from the books of other states!
1. Combine the three higher education organizations (University of Louisiana, LSU and Southern systems could be more effective and more efficient if combined into one system). There is no reason to have three systems in a state our size. The Louisiana Community and Technical College System (LCTCS) serves a separate need, but if necessary could be combined as well.
2. Establish one flagship university (for all practical purposes, LSU, unless someone can make me believe otherwise). Then distribute programs to the other universities. Mississippi does this. If you want to do engineering, you go to Mississippi State, Mass Comm go to Southern Miss, and so on. This helps ensure that each program is the best of its kind and that no one program is short on funding.

But what do you do with the large number of undecided students who enter college?
I do agree with the idea of consolidation, but what is gained by spreading the programs around to many different locations.

Yes, some schools need to be closed, but the money should go to LSUBR's academic needs. The Athletic program is self sufficient.

I've never really heard valid justifications for ULM and Nicholls's existences. Throw Tech the pharmacy school.

I will be attending LSUE in the summer. It provides an education close to home. I am as big of a fan as the next guy but this is the most absurd shite i've heard on this board in 5 years. This can't be an honest opinion???

I think most are forgetting one of the most important aspects of the three schools in question. All three are considered commuter schools and a large portion of their student body are non-traditional students. All three also make great contributions to their communities. Lets not forget all the people that the three schools employ as well.
