we're still at a point where teams aren't respecting our passing game.
no one is scared of etling.
oline is also horrible in pass protection. canada schemed around the qb and the oline the whole game. good job by canada.
i know we've talked a lot of shite about what our record will be this year, but we really could win less than 8 games for the first time this century.
uf is a bad team. this saturday will tell the truth. auburn defense is crazy good. offense not looking bad either.

Lol. Talking out two plays that reduce the importance of OL in run blocking and further both occurred in the first half is reasonable. Consistency is the key with an offensive line. Those plays were clearly outliers.
It’s not like I am taking out 20% of good plays. I took out two misdirection plays, one of which happened when UF has a backup in at safety.
That said, Canada caked a good game, but this OL is weak and poorly coached on top of being young.
No one is saying they aren't weak. But taking out plays that go against your point is just silly.

Guys UF’s defense ranks 71st in rushing defense in the country. They aren’t uneven a top half team in that category.
The youth is clearly understandable and this OL has potential in he future. I am talking to people that thought hey somehow proved themselves in this game against some type juggernaut. They didn’t they were mediocre against a mediocre run defense.

Then take out the other misdirection jet sweeps, we lost yardage/no gained on several.
Those are just a part of our offense. Canada will run into a loaded box a few times to open up the sweeps and vice versa.
OL looked better than it has. Still not good, but better.

Why did you take the 2 jet sweeps out? Does the offensive line not have to block on those plays?

yup. oline isn't playing worth a damn this year. we knew there would be fall-off from last year, but we still have talent. we aren't even average on the oline.

ahh another refreshing topic.
keep em coming

I don’t think anybody is claiming our OL played well
Etling was running for his life most of the game. They played better than against Syracuse but when players can walk through the line everything is an improvement

They were up against 9-10 man boxes. Our qb played like dog poo poo to put it nicely.

The mere fact there were 46 carries in and of itself is significant, which you obviously don't get.

We won the game. F! Florida and their shark humping coach!

Our OL is not good, but Saturday was their toughest test yet and they looked better than they have all year.
That's not counting MSU and Troy, correct?

Taking out a couple outliers seems appropriate to me. True, you can't take out 10 outliers, but 2 plays?
I'm no statistician, but it seems like taking out a couple outliers gives a more clear number showing how we moved the ball.
Hypothetical - what if we ran the ball 40 times: 38 of those were no gain, and 2 were 99 yards runs. Overall average is 5 ypc.
Can we take any those 2 outliers? Doesn't it provide a more accurate picture of the success of the running game?

Fournette was held under 100 yds by Pitt, if you don't count the 90 yd TD run.

not bad against a top tier defensive line. Thanks for the stat I thought it was worse than that

I'm not statistician, but removing outliers is to give a more clear picture of the overall data.
Fournette's last game is good example. Overall stats: 28 rushes for 181 yards. 6.5 ypc - looks fantastic.
But removing the 1 outlier, he had 27 rushes for 91 yards. 3.4 ypc. Much bigger data set with a far different average. The long run skews the numbers.
Now of course he gets credit for the long run, but we're talking data and averages here.
