It's hard to fathom the depth of the stupidity on this board. The Saints have approximately ZERO effect on LSU recruiting. geeeez

midcity..... why is it you feel the nfl has no effect on a schools recruiting? High school coaches do have an effect as well as what team the player would prefer to get drafted by... so i would say the saints do help when it comes to recruiting

Miles has very little to do with that, one way or another...which is fortunate.

Miles has everything to do with it. kids want to play for winning programs and they know exactly how hard it is to realise a 51-14 record over 5ys. they also realise that Miles accomplished this while having to deal with the loss of a heisman caliber qb and two devastating hurricaines that shrunk the Louisiana prospect base. many of them also acknowledge the fact that Miles stood by the team and state when the media ****s were trying to sabotage LSU the morning of the SEC championship which ultimately led to our natcham just two short years ago. these kids saw it...understood it...and want to play for a coach like Miles and a school like LSU.

One of the worst threads on the rant in months, and that is saying something.

Fans bitching about Miles have little to no impact on recruiting. Here's what does:

Positives:
SEC
Nationally televised games
Tiger Stadium
Athletic Facilities
Strong academic assistance for athletes
On field success
Loyalty to the only D1 football power in the state
Co-eds
Strong Recruiting Network
Proven success of placing players in NFL

Negatives:
Poor in game coaching is only negative I can come up with.

LSUs continued recruiting success

What's the reason for it? Even with a significant part of the fan base opposed to Miles, blue chip recruits continue to roll in.
Apartments.

The 2010 class is good, but it has slipped even in the last week with 2 big losses. 2011 is a long time away. If LSU has another 2nd or 3rd place SEC West season I think LSU stays around 10-15 range.

You mean a significant part of the rantards are anti Miles not the entire fan base

How do you explain the recruiting successes of Notre Dame and Miami in the recent years. Recruits don't look at only one aspect of the game meaning Titles - Sure that is good but there are various other factors including playing time, distance from home, position coaches, NFL preparedness etc... (not to mention apartments :) )

What about the other factors. Hiring of assistants? Recruiting? Relationship with players? These are the three areas that Miles seems to excel.

Nice post. His unravelling in the last two minutes of a half / game drive me nuts, but he does excel at the aforementioned.

As a whole the recruits are smarter than the fanbase.

Tuscaloosa? Dump
Auburn? Not even a town. Just a college in the middle of nowhere.
Oxford? Nah.
Starkville? Please?
Knoxville? Not much there to speak of.
Columbia? BR in South Carolina
Gainesville? Interstate town.
Lexington?

+1

Athens .. mmm. their downtown area area off campus and live music scene give them the edge over BR. Proximity to Atlanta provides the diversification in entertainment, sort of like N.O. does for BR.

I suppose that when LSU beats the shite out of Penn State and opens the season in the top 10 AGAIN next year, you so called fans will still be wondering why top recruits still want to come to LSU
