If LSU gets in at the 12 slot, what have you seen to make you believe that this defense doesn’t get completely curb stomped by the highest seed without a bye.

I didn't say they would last beyond one game. However, the offense was virtually unstoppable and you never know what can happen in terms of turnovers or fluke plays. For instance BAMA won by two scores, but it is very likely LSU scores at least one more time if Daniels is not injured. Then the difference is the tipped pass which usually falls harmlessly to the ground landed in the hands of a defender. A play like that might be the difference in LSU advancing. Anything can happen once the game kicks off.

Is 12 team playoff going to be so diluted with possibility of having teams with three losses?

Why even have conference play anymore if winning your conference doesnt matter?

Just make a 10 game schedule randomly chosen with the top 50 or so teams and choose who fits the eyeball test after the season.

This. Playoffs are purely an invitational at the FBS level. Teams are granted spots based on potential TV ratings. Not conference championships, not SOS, not power ratings. Only level of football to do this.

It needs to be a 16 team format. 11 champions plus 5 at large.
