Again... it's a weird arse hill to die on.

I don't consider it a hill he's dying on because it's rather inconsequential in the grand scheme of things. It's more like a big FU, I'll do what I want to the animal rights people. Personally, I don't really care too much either way but it will be kinda cool and nostalgic to see a live tiger in the stadium again.

This is probably the dumbest thing Ive ever read. We're trotting a random tiger that's not Mike? No thanks. This isn't tradition

I agree with this. I’m all for Mike in the stadium, not an imposter.

If you are willingly and purposefully putting an animal in a position that makes it uncomfortable and freak out, that’s a dickhead thing to do.
Guarantee you have done it

You 100% have shot fireworks in a neighborhood. 100% chance there was a dog in a house fricking losing it or zonked out on dog Prozac trying to deal with it

It's not PETA, it's the vets he employs

Probably bring in a former circus tiger who is used to being in front of crowds

Then so are people firing off fireworks in their backyard when their dog is in the house or their neighbors dog

It’s absolutely comparable.

It is absolutely not.

I can comfort my dog if she's got anxiety during fireworks.

I cannot comfort a caged tiger dealing with constant noise.

My dog is in a space that she recognizes and feels safe in

The tiger is in a strange environment they will not recognize.

Hopefully it does happen and we unleash this other tiger on them.

Still doesn't negate the fact that this is an act of petulance from Landry,

since it won't be Mike, this doesn't seem like blasphemy or a bad omen at all.

JMJ Gov. Landry is a fricking idiot.

Doesn't matter how much, if it's true that any tax dollars would go towards Landry making himself feel better about being told no by vets would just further prove how much of a child he is.

Do we even know if it's tax dollars?

You are kinda right. Being someone who shoots fireworks in a residential area is far worse actually. 7.6 million animals go missing every year due to running away. 30% of that is from July 4th….

I’ve had dogs that freak out every time there it rains. It sucks, but it happens. Fireworks are normalized, you aren’t going to get rid of them, you have to deal with it. Putting a tiger in a cage, taking it to another state, and putting it in a situation in which you know it will not like isn’t normalized and is totally preventable.

If they can get the Tiger off of the field before the players run out and they shoot off the fireworks then good! It was the fireworks that fricked Mike VI up and made him not want to get in the cage.

I assume they are going to do the whole "Shamu" thing, that every Tiger is to be called "Mike"

You are making my point

We don’t care actual dogs die every year due to fireworks scaring them so damn much. It’s just normal and who cares

That seems hypocritical considering people freak out about just making a tiger uncomfortable for a total of maybe 1.5 hours in a year

If I'm not mistaken, the vets concerns are for Mike specifically. Other experts have stated that tiger stadium might not be so bad for another tiger.

This is not the win that the governor thinks it is. As others have pointed out, this isn’t Mike. Secondly, it shows that Landry is a petulant, childish, tantrum throwing politician and that LSU and TAF are run by spineless jellyfish.

With all of the issues we have, this is an enormous waste of time and resources.

Ah yes, I keep forgetting we have millions of responsible tiger owners out there that never lose their Tigers during a fireworks show.

This is such a bad argument from you
