Reed ran wild last year because LSU was playing man and the defensive line didn’t maintain gap discipline. Same thing they did against Chambliss when he ran for 60+ last season.
It’s not even remotely the same gameplan as what they ran last week.

I went to the LSU-FLA game in 97 we beat #1 ,the next week in Tiger stadium OM beat our asses.Its very hard for teams to get up that after you play your Super Bowl.

We did not play man nearly as much as you think. Last year we ran man for a some portion of the first half and then a majority zone concepts the second half.
You also can’t run man coverage if you have a weak DL without gap discipline. Makes no sense. Dont confuse a Quarters concept with Man coverage.

Why would LSU be running Quarters against a QB that is a bad passer? QBs don’t run for 100+ when they have 7+ sets of eyes on them.

Of course it was his; it was what his head coach directed him to emphasize. That doesn't mean it was his first choice.

No, he doesn't. The issue we always had was gap integrity and edge containment. None of that was the issue this game, by design, I suspect.

Last year BB ran Man Coverage <30% of the time. Almost always on 1st down. However, on situational down and distance on 1st & 2nd down he ran Quarters/Cover 4 concepts. Nearly 70% of the time he runs a zone passing concept, specifically quarters. This includes when blitzing which he did a shite ton last year.

We played like shite and still had a chance. A halfway competent QB and we win last week
