Yet more lies. A LSU fan came up with the idea. The majority of funding came from Texas and California.

Of course. Nice spin.

How is that spin, and insinuating that it was all LSU boosters that did it isn't?

Grand total of 2 LSU boosters I know of submitting money, and they both made the vast majority of the funding from the LSU contingent (more than 75%)

I don't see any of them crying about 2003.

Because USC wasn't the team that was slighted. And don't tell me that Carroll didn't petition his team to be in the game before the voting. And once USC was left out, the absolute best outcome they could possibly expect was a 1st place vote in the AP poll. And they got it. So what do they gave to cry about. And on a side note, any coach that voted for USC in the coaches poll should have been banned from voting for not following the rules that were agreed upon by all coaches.

You simply don't see this many threads about LSU on SC boards. You see some, but not nearly as many or as long

That's because you simply don't see this many posters on SC boards, and certainly not as many LSU posters on USC boards as we have USC posters on this board.

That's one of the biggest fallacies of simply counting the number of threads on TD.com about a given team and comparing it to the number of threads about LSU on that team's boards. A board that gets probably thousands of new threads every day is naturally going to have more threads about EVERYTHING than a board that barely has a hundred.

Like our football team, "our" board is easily the best in the college ranks.

And to answer this we'll go back to the original article that started this whole debate.

USC vs. LSU

This one would be dandy. This game would not only decide the 2008 National Championship but it would also decide the decade championship. Each of these teams would be going for their third national title since the BCS began.

WeareSc is every bit as big as TD.

And almost everytime I have gone there there have been at least 1 thread about LSU/SEC.

Head over there during a close game. There are threads of excitement announcing for everyone to turn and watch the fun.

And the board almost goes into a meltdown of celebration when LSU loses.

But USC fans are impassive about LSU and LSU fans are the only ones clinging to dislike.

Hmmm.. USC has two NC's (AP03 and AP and coaches 04), LSU has two Coaches 03, AP and Coaches 07)ow. Not sure what you are getting at? Nowhere does it says third BCS NC or third coaches NC.

see the problem is you see two threads about either LSU or the SEC and consider them as articles about usc.

now who is obsessed.

LSU is slighted everytime I hear we won a "half a NC" in 2003. and USC fans are obsessed with LSU. Geaux to the message boards at espn.

True. At any given time there will be two or three threads about LSU on the first page of WeareSC.com.

Also, there are no FLSU stickers in SoCal, nor was a billboard erected or some sort of anti-LSU website that was marketed so heavily. I also do not recall a billboard van portraying LSU in a negative light being driven around the biggest sports network in the country

Well, passion is yet another category in which LSU (and its fans) surpass all others. It doesn't take very many people to pitch in and rent a billboard or drive a van around ESPN headquarters. LSU fans, when they feel strongly about something, are simply the type who will usually pursue it to the end.

The billboard and the van thing, while stupidly misguided, only indicate the depth of those LSU fans' devotion, not the numbers of our fans who feel that way.

That being said, however, LSU fans do (or at least did) have more reason to react in that way than USC fans would, so it stands to reason there'd be more chance of LSU fans doing it. I did think it was pretty obvious bias that you could hear 100 references in the media to USC winning the national championship in 2003, and maybe 10 of them would qualify it by calling it a co-championship or mentioning that LSU won the BCS title, but until 2007, probably 95% of all references to LSU's national title in 2003 called it a co-championship or referred to USC splitting the title.

Winning the AP title in 03 is the equivalent of some obscure second rate poll granting Alabama yet another national championship for 2007 because ULM didn't blow them out. It was a break down in the system. No one foresaw that possibility. The BCS was created to crown ONE champion. No one has ever asked, since the BCS was formed, "who won the AP title in 2004?" All coaches agreed to this system. USC was left out. Sorry. USC has won 1 championship this decade.

and that is just where we differ.

see we hear national champs and think BCS. you know the one that the BCS conferences all try to get into.

you hear national champs and think AP.

100% correct. which is why LSU fans hate usc.

Exactly!!! Phuck the AP poll. I was sooooo glad when they dropped out of the BCS process. I wish Miles would have told them to stick their 2007 trophy up their arse. Maybe he's using it as a doorstop in the weight room or something.

Okay, here it is, the whole truth:

USC won 1 national championship GAME.

LSU won 2 national championship GAMES.

USC was awarded a national championship by the AP (which shouldn't really count, because it itsn't the system used to determine the champ, but we won't discount the success they had that season).

Therefore, because LSU actually won the GAME that bears the 'national championship' title, they actually won a whole NC that year.

Thus: LSU has 2 national championships, and USC has 1 1/2.

End of story.
