USC during same period: Beat Texas Tech, Northwestern (Big 11), Iowa (Big 11), Michigan twice and Oklahoma. They lost to Texas, Utah and TCU.

That's nice. The TX Tech was the '94 Cotton Bowl, for the '93 season....so to be more specific...sorry. Since the '94 season USC has beaten exactly ONE non Big-10 bowl team. My point is, where is the evidence that USC football "has no piers"?

see the problem is you see two threads about either LSU or the SEC and consider them as articles about usc.

Ah, so this thread is about LSU vs. South carolina? Stupid me.

Therefore, because LSU actually won the GAME that bears the 'national championship' title, they actually won a whole NC that year.

The claim LSU has to a NC in 2003 is the caoches' poll, which is used too legitimize the BCS CG. The coaches poll is awarded per prior agreement. That is how the winnder of the game gets a NC--via coaches votes.

southern cal and LSU would be a dream matchup coming for the last 5, 6 years.... Dont matter where but it needs to take place.....therefore will silence critics on both sides...for a little while anyway

Pretty funny you post the link, which also lists USC from 2003

but the system everyone agreed to play under (including Pete Carroll) was the BCS system. OU, LSU, and USC weren't fighting to get into the Rose Bowl. Those were sugar packets the USC cheerleaders and fans had after the UCLA win in '03. After '03, the AP title has been completely irrelavant. Would Texas, Florida, or LSU have cared if they didn't get the AP trophy in recent years?? Nope. It's about the BCS now. Everyone wanted to get to the Dome last year, Miami this year.

Shut the frick up.

I saw when ESPN did that too. No biggie. But the fact remains that USC's 2003 AP NC does not tarnish LSU's coaches poll NC (BCS) from the same year. If you believe that it tarnished it, then that is your problem to deal with.

ANd SC beat that team by a combined up and down the field in consecutive years by a combined score of about 300-20.

Yes, we can all tell that LSU fans do not care they did not get the AP in 2003 (as it festers a half decade later).

USC and Petey recognize and applaud LSU Coach's NC from 03

Each of thse teams were figting to win what was in their control (conference) and then let the chips fall. Every caoch says that you fight for what you have control over (conference champions) and then hope you are in a position for more. Would I (and USC) have rathered the Sugar Bowl that year? Indeed. Rather the BCS than AP? Indeed. STill AP NC's. Indeed.

I have always said that my preference, in order, would be 1) BCS/Coach's and AP, 2) BCS/coach's only, 3) AP only.

agreed. But think about this: most of the time it's a "split national title" when they refer to LSU in '03, but "the national title" win they refer to USC in '03. And did u watch the Gameday crew after the BCS Title Game?? "no way this is as impressive a win as what USC did in the Rose Bowl. No way"-Lee Corso. So why do they have to bring up USC after a title game that had absolutely nothing to do with USC? They did the same thing the year before when Florida won. "If USC beats UCLA, they're playing in their 4th straight title game, not Florida". They spent as much time praising USC's win over Michigan as they did Florida's win. It's disgusting. That's why everyone outside of LA passionately pull against USC.

That's ridiculous. There's a big fat crystal ball in LSU's trophy case for 2003. I couldnt care less about that little shiny, pointed AP trophy. We care because of the media bowing at the altar of Pete The Great every chance they get. I'm sure Florida & Texas fans feel the same way. They have crystal balls too. Vince Young bitch!!!

Without McFadden last year AND their starting QB who's name is DICK!

LSU whooped twice Arizona by a combined score of 104-16. So what?

There are SC fans on our boards that despise LSU, but the ones that hang out on this board do not. I count certain Tiger fans among my very best of friends. We give each other LOADS of grief about college football, but that's what it's all about. Good clean fun.

I don't dislike LSU at all, but I'd still love to see us go head to head.

That's one of the biggest SEC myths around. McFadden DID play. He was Arkansas' leading rusher at the game in Fayetteville. Guess what? Felix Jones and Peyton Hillis played too. We still layed half a hundred on them.
