Our defense was arguably better than auburns last year and oregon could only put what what 19? and it actually shouldnt even been that close because oregon went into panic mode and needed some lucky plays to convert.
Why do people say stupid things like this? First off, sure our defense was probably better than Auburn's last year against traditional offenses. However, Chavis has consistently shown that he's kinda clueless against the spread. Add in that Auburn's defense goes against an offense very similar to Oregon's, and it's not surprising at all that they played well. We won't hold Oregon to less than 19. I'm willing to bet about anything on that.

Also throw in arguably the best conditioning coach in the game with great depth in our positions and Oregons fast pace wont hurt us as much as everyone things it will
It's affected almost every team they've ever played. Consider me in the crowd that will assume the status quo remains the same and hopes for change as opposed to the group that expects something different.

Noel Devine disagrees with you. So does Miss State. Your basing all of this on what? Lsu's bad performance against Ole miss?
LSU's defense typically allows spread offenses a lot of yards, but doesn't allow many points. Which would you prefer? Who did Auburn score more against, LSU or Oregon? Keep in mind, Auburn scored against LSU on a kick off return as well.

LSU 19
Oregon 17

Comparing the Oregon offense to WVU and MsSt is just stupid, frankly. I'm hopeful for this game because I don't think JJ is capable of beating our defense. I know, I know, you've got the biggest, baddest OL that has ever been assembled and you could run against the Ravens, Steelers and anybody else in the nfl. The problem is, how do you respond to 2nd and 3rd and long because this is where I see JJ having the biggest problems against our defense. Stanford was successful with the same kind of strategy 2 years ago but they also have Andrew Luck throwing dimes 40 yards down field to keep drives going, do you honestly believe JJ can do the same? I don't, and I look at Brian Brohm regressing under Kragthorpe as another example of that.
This isn't to say that I don't believe LSU isn't capable of winning this game for some of the same reasons y'all have listed, I just think that the Ducks come out on top on this one.

You obviously do not understand or comprehend the force you are facing

Lots of Oregon grads in Juneau. This will be a fin game for all of us.

quote:no turnovers, keep the mo by not making stupid plays and executing the forward pass, keeps drives alive to rest the D, flip the field for the D.
And with your prediction mettenberger puts up 18 more pts and stops the defense too??
there are tons of ways the offense, and the QB in particular, can affect how the defense plays.

Were gonna do what Arizona State and Auburn did and run the ball 50 times.
Eat clock, move chains, occasional big play, rely on defense
Yes I know you beat ASU by 11, the talent level is astronomically different.
close arse game, winner decided by a 7 at most.

LSU - and it's not even close.

LOL at you clowns. Comparing a one-man Noel Devine WVU team run by a certified moron in Bill Stewart DOES NOT equal Oregon. Comparing a Mississippi State team who wouldn't have had a single skill player start for Oregon last year, NOT ONE, is almost as bad.

So now we only have a better defense than Oregon? I thought we had an elite defense? I hope our defense is exponentially better than Oregon's cause their offense is exponentially better than ours.

They also took a knee inside the 10 and made our defense look downright stupid for 4 quarters. It looked like we hadn't even practiced.
And like the Duck fan said, please don't compare Oregon's offense to MSU, or WVU.

true...but Darren Thomas isn't quite a Masoli or Newton either. Both of them did a lot of individual damage against LSU, more than just a pure scheme problem. Also, Hatcher at safety was a big part of the problem, we'll be much improved there (IMO).

Yeah, Mett puts up more points because he is a better quarterback and with JJ we score less because in that scenario he turns the ball over 2-3 times.
