We do not want to get into a shootout with UK. Our ideal game would be 70-66 LSU wins.

I'm not saying we will, that's just our ideal game we don't have the offense/horses to keep up with UK for 40 minutes outside of Hornsby/Victor/Simmons - the rest of the team did pretty much nothing.

Those free driving lanes won't be there for Benny all night, we need Tone/Sampson/Patterson to come alive.

LSU's ideal game is an uptempo shootout. Everyone said last season that LSU shouldn't try to "run" with UK. Well, that's what LSU did and they damn near won the game.

UK plays solid halfcourt defense. Do you really think LSU would be able to consistently execute any semblance of a half court offense against UK? I suspect LSU's offensive approach will be pretty simple. Put the ball in Simmons and/or Quarterman's hands and let them try to make plays. LSU is going to run any and every chance they get. It's what they do.

Despite all of that, this game will be won or lost on the glass and defensive end. LSU played with great effort in those areas Sat. night. In fact, I don't think Vandy had an offensive rebound until the final minute of the game (they finished with 3 total). LSU is not a good enough defensive team to allow UK 2-3 chances per offensive possession.

Literally exact opposite. UK wants to play slow half court D and then try to get blocks and steals for buckets. They would rather a 70-66 game than LSU. LSU wants it 90-86

Benny needs to go after their bigs. He is athletic and talented enough to drive the lane and get a lot of fouls. Like he did against Vandy. Kentucky wants to keep you in the half court and generate blocks and steals to set up there offense. I think LSU should run and go fast against and force them to cover the whole court. This would be a huge time for Blakeney to finally show up and I think it is the type of game he will.

92-86 Good Guys. Couple of late free throws seal it.

20/10/5??? What a generic stat line. More like 28/15/4.

LSU: 86
Dem Cats: 79

Edit: Also how can you say LSU doesn't have a potent offense? We are averaging 84pts a game! Our defense has been suspect, but seems to be gelling with Victor and Hornsby back.

Yeah, I think if we get into a grind it out half-court game with Kentucky we have no shot, that's where we struggle.

I think this game doesn't come down to pace, but to shot selection.

If LSU continues to use Ben Simmons to get to the rim and possibly get UK into foul trouble, LSU has a chance. UK hasn't had the dominant post players they are used to and Simmons could knock their big guys out of the game if he plays like he has the last two games.

Ben has drawn 12 and 13 fouls the last two games. That's ridiculous. If he can do similar against UK, LSU has a chance. Also can't allow UK to fast break on us which really ends up being an issue with floor spacing and shot selection.

If we can keep good spacing and get back on transition defense, I think we have a decent shot (as long as we play like we did against Vandy defensively).

UK hasn't been shooting well from outside so we have to keep them off the boards and out of transition to slow down their offense.
