I was at that game. I knew it would be bad even before kickoff: it was the first LSU bowl game, and the last one thankfully, where the opposing team's fans were louder and more passionate than ours were.

We Tiger fans are truly spoiled right now. But being 4-0 in bowls and 20-0 OOC under Les makes that understandable.

How is any LSU game meaningless?

And bowl game at that?

It still hurts...
i didn't care. i was still pissed about an SEC team going undefeated that year and not playing for a NC. Auburn deserved to play for a title. So did Oklahoma. So did USC. It's why CFB needs a playoff. The bowl system is so retarded. "I have an idea, let's end the season then play another game that doesn't matter five weeks later". Brilliant.

The only thing this game showed me was that JaMarcus solidified his role as our QB for the next year.

it shows Nick saban sucked in bowl games except for 2003

except for 00 and 01 as well. which made him 3-2 in bowl games here. 0-2 in those started by Randall.

It stopped hurting 30 minutes after it was over for me. It was a meaningless bowl game that only matters for the Big Ten to use as bragging rights for when they try to say the SEC is overrated

Had Coach Nick won that game can you imagine how much harder it would have been for Les Miles?

Don't kid yourself that loss to Iowa was a blessing for LSU.

Yes, because losing that way on TV to a national audience is a true blessing. I suppose it was a "moral victory" in that we mounted a rally.

Look how long it took most LSU fans to get over Saban. If Saban won that game he probably would have been carried off the field by his players and would have been a legend forever. Poor Les wouldn't have standed a chance. At least with the loss some fans weren't convinced the Nicky was a god.

What pisses me off about that loss is who LSU lost that game to, a fifth year Sr. WR who before that TD catch had NO TD's in his college career, NONE, Zero. I hate to see LSU loss but it's not as bad when they loose to good players, not some scrub that gets lucky.

Having won 2 national titles since then, puts that issue to rest.

I still can't watch that replay. As a die hard fan that game killed me and it was even worse to see in person.

The worst part about it was to see seniors like Corey Webster, Spears, L. Turner, T. Daniels and Ben Wilkerson end their LSU carrers in that fashion thanks to one blown assignment by Keron Gordon (if I remember correctly)

I had a $500 bet with one of my best friends who is from Des Moines. I still have nightmares about that finish. I was at a party at my parents house in NOLA watching the game and let out a 4 letter word which I don't think had ever been spoken in my house and it echoed throughout. Even though I was 32 at the time, my Mom didn't think it was amusing at all. I told my Dad the specifics surrounding the situation and he gave me a pass. That was the hardest $500 I ever had to pay anyone. Not nearly the largest amount that I ever lost, but having to listen to the abuse from my friend made it unbearable.

My next door neighbor at the time was in his upper sixty's and was a huge Hawkeye fan. We went at it talking smack for weeks once the bowl matchup was announced. On game day we set up in his garage and snacked and drank beer starting early that morning. He was a happy camper most of the game until LSU went ahead in the fourth and he got real quiet. Not saying much and seemed kind of resigned that LSU would win. When they caught that pass, I thought this old guy was going to hit his head on his garage ceiling he jumped so high. Sucked to be me at that point!

what gets more Publicity in the year since. Blue grass miracle or the Iowa game.

and my o my, much like we decimated Miami's program and Notre Dame's program after their beatdowns, Iowa's decline seems to have been even worse even though they won

let them have Crap One bowl '04, ill settle for SEC Champs and Crystal Balls

(but in all honestly the game did suck did. Didn't Xavier carter have that almost game winning TD catch? he one decent play all year/career? or was that Doucet (prob doucet)

Pretty amazing that it took a miracle for a team to beat LSU in a bowl game. Ever since the last Cotton Bowl againts Texas, this was the only bowl game that was even really close.

The only thing that sucked was that it was a shitty way to end a season in which we were supposed to be trying to defend our title.

OU had a ball dropped in the endzone that would have tied it in the 4th
