The problem is this team doesn't have any margin for error "to grow". They screwed the pooch against nobodies in the ooc schedule and they have to be able to win these games.

The refs refused to let us to win. Every time we got close, they took care of FL. Until JJ challenges some of these calls, we will continue to get the shaft. No challenges, easy to keep giving the calls to the other team.

Where was Gray?

He should have seen more minutes.

Not in the second half. Simmons' travels and losing the ball hurt as much as anything. Hornsby not making a single 3 today hurt. Getting owned in the first half on second chance pops hurt bad. Elbert's existence hurt us terribly.

I agree. The refs were terrible.

Hornsby's threes not falling were huge

Agreed...

Time to go small and stick with it. Elbert just shouldn't be playing.

This team has some potential. They beat Kentucky although Kentucky played a shitty game. There is no consistent defense. The offense looks to be as organized as a street ball offense. Game coaching is hit or miss. Hence, a very inconsistent team. They can make a post season tournament, but also might not.

LSU's most important players:
Ben
Hornsby
TQ
Victor

Had 16 fouls called against them. 5 in the first 8 mins of the game. Refs set the tone early and every time LSU got close the refs rose to the occasion and LSU collapsed.

I don't even count this bullshite of a game a loss in my mind. When Simmons hit about a 6 foot wing bucket about 5 mins into the game and got knocked back on his arse 6 feet because of contact I knew shite was on for real.

I could name minimum of 10 calls that were absolute bullshite in the game. If people think that doesn't have a deciding factor on a games outcome, then they are dumb.

LSU could easily string together 8 wins or so in a row and instantly be a tourney team. They have that potential. Just need a better coach.

False. Blackney and Victor contributed and play okay
a combined 4-16 for 13 points isn't ok for a tandem of starters.
our definitions of quality contributions differ. these guys have to perform better if lsu is going to be successful.

That's bad. Didn't realize it was that ugly.

Hornsby was 0-5 from 3. All around bad shooting day from everyone not named Simmons.

Blackney rebounded well and played solid D. And made a couple of 3s. He needs to get on track sooooo bad.

Victor also got killed a couple times around the rim which contributed to some misses

You're exactly right. To be as highly touted as he was, he hasn't shown a lot.
The bench is extremely weak and aren't going to provide much. Gray may give you a few points here and there but that's it. ALL of the starters have to contribute more. Simmons is special. But even when he puts up the points he did today, he's going to need more support.

What did TQ do today?
TQ was bad today. But you have to look at game flow too. He basically "fouled out" the first half 1:50 into the game. He sat the other 18:10 until halftime.

Hornsby sat the last 12:00 until halftime.

Everything was on Simmons and Victor for most of the game. Then re-insert TQ and Hornsby 2nd half and Hornsby had some moments but was 0-5 from 3 and TQ was just completely misguided.

Blakeney helped in this game, played some pretty good defense, which he really does as a true FR and even made two 3s. He's still a liability on offense.

LSU was hamstrung from the beginning of the game. And then whenever LSU made a push in the 2nd half, the refs just chopped at the legs.

I said somewhere in this thread around 10 mins left or so that is LSU won this game it would be more impressive than the UK win. I stand by that. We played like shite, but we weren't playing 5 on 5.

I refuse to accept that. On the road you are almost always going to get the short end of the calls, adapt and overcome.

So many ways we could have overcome and did not, most notably, 3-20 from 3-point land.

Florida missed so many open shots and free throws they tried to give it to us and we still did not take it.

Hopefully we can move on and learn from this. That's all I got.
