Also in JD5's interview with RC on the pivot he talked about graduating and having more time to spend on his game. He was in the ops building at 6 am every morning and he drug nabors and I think thomas with him. I think he also talked about using some sort of reality setup in California. He really put a lot of work in. He was flying home or to texas every break he got to train with his qb coach there who was also training bryce young and cj stroud. LINK

Just makes you wonder why it wasn’t used earlier if it was available.

In the same segment they said the Germans came to them in the summer with the program built for soccer and they adapted it to work for football. It wasn’t ready until we used it is what I took from the story.

There was a video posted during heisman week explaining it. Basically he uses an oculus headset and gets to see defenses that he can diagnose. Trains him to recognize alignments. I think he basically picks the play and gets to see the result if his pick was correct.

Something change with Daniels.

IMO what changed was his recognition of defenses with his pre-snap reads. JD wasn't holding on to the ball like he did last season. He had become more decisive with his throws. The mental part of his game improved drastically after week one.

Two things happened according to an interview JD did in the latter half of the season - i'm guessing in the buy week before Bama maybe. He definitely gave a lot of credit to the VR training to get better on presnap reads and progressions. The other was Nabers getting on his arse to let it fly. Nabers told him "even when we are not open we are open." So Malik got him to trust the WRs more that they would be where they were supposed to be if he threw the ball. I am not sure when this allegedly took place or if it was a series of conversations coming out of Fall Camp. For some reason I got the impression it was after the FSU game.
