I will say i think it is strange certain computers didn't turn out the way people expected. I'm not saying its rigged ... just odd so many people got it wrong.
Agreed. I posted this earlier and I just can't see how this is possible:

This is what really confuses me.
Before the Auburn game weekend where okie st was idle, the sagarin ratings were:
Bama - 98.90
Okie St - 98.03
After that weekend when bama beat then #17 in the elo chess Auburn, it jumped to:
Bama - 99.56
Okie St - 97.18
Then after Okie state beats the #6 team in the elo chess it just goes to
Bama - 99.49
Okie st - 97.81

That just makes no sense at all.

What would you place the odds at of Okie St getting in?

20% at best right now. They got the required votes BUT they did not re-gain the ground they lost in the computers (I could not tell you why)

With all due respect, you would have to either be terribly naive, or terribly unaware of the extent of the intense Abc/ESPN/bama dog and pony show of the last week to make that statement. It was an executive decision, it was virtually universal across the networks, with the language/arguments being completely sychophantic, and it is based on economic considerations that benefit ESPN/ABC.

ESPN/ABC/Disney abandoned any pretense of journalistic credibility YEARS ago. They are strictly entertainment and should be viewed as such. Contrast them with CBS/CBS Sportsline where there was no monolithic message in the last two weeks and where alternate views were entertained and explored.

They will take the LSU Bama game and promote the hell out of it and give us an epic production. That's what they do. they set the agenda, they promote some arguments/stifle competing views and make LOTS of cash money.

so whats the point of PALM and EDWARDS jumping the gun. Why not just let it go down to the decision on the almighty BCS selection show??

It's the "no one looking over my shoulder" factor that allows Sagarin to do whatever the frick he wants with no one able to dispute it.

That's the biggest disappointment to me in all this, that it very much looks like shady bullshite happened in the COMPUTERS which are supposed to be static entities not influenced by any lobbying bullshite.

Given that mistakes have happened AND BEEN CORRECTED in computer numbers in the recent years, I can't see any reason the algorithm, at least the particular one used by the BCS, isn't out for for checks and balances to be done. At least, I can't see any reason outside the ability to manipulate the numbers with no one noticing.

You are naive. Have you ever watched ESPN college football coverage. You rarely get two talking heads to ever agree, by design I propose, yet they have all been in agreement on the Bama to BCSNC for two weeks now. Such agreement between talking heads on a call this close is impossible unless scripted by ESPN producers.

Yeah, it's bullshite.

Like bmac tweeted earlier. If LSU-Bama is what it ends up being, I hope T Boone Pickens starts suing the frick out of everyone and forces some changes.

journalists love nothing more than to hear/read their own names. The fact that we are on hear talking about Palm & Edwards scooping the BCS info is the exact reason they leak the info. Half the people on this board didn't even know who Palm was this AM.
