You’d think motorcycles would watch for cars and trucks. They are bigger and have more protection than a motorcycle. (so profound, sarcastically said)

I despise motorcycles. Many are operated as though they are bullet proof..would think it would be the other way around. The racket they make rivals fingernails across a chalkboard

it's hard to find words for something like this...a poor young girl's life is over much too soon by what appears to be a motorcyclist that had a death wish, but in this case, an innocent sweet girl was killed. Just horrible, simply horrible for her family, makes you want to go hug your loved ones, life is precious...

I don't want to watch that.

Prayers to that young girls family! 18 and a freshman at LSU, whole life ahead....just heart breaking.

In my 30 years of EMS,It’s the crotch rocket guys that seem to be “praying for death”. The fatalities I’ve run involving motorcycles are crotch rockets. Many times single rider vs stationary objects. The touring bike fatalities are generally caused by careless (other) drivers. Being ejected from a vehicle is automatic trauma criteria. Every time you wreck on a motorcycle, you’re ejected.
Food for thought.

Lots of people getting upset at this motorcycle guy are in the wrong. The video posted shows the north bond light still green. If you are turning left on to Nich Ext(S Quad now) that turn signal stays red until the north bond lane gets a red. Has been this way for years. It looks like she even tries to stop when she realizes the mistake and stops for a second. Two young people lost their life and the response that one of them basically deserves it is sickening. It appears she made a mistake and she didn’t deserve to die because of it. Just sad all around.

Motorcycle guy was easily doing 70mph or more.

Was he going 100mph as some have said in this thread? If so, then it was all pretty easily avoidable

But she also ran the light, in that case they both made mistakes and it’s just an awful situation.

Plus, the estates are probably going to both sue each other for wrongful death so the family of one of the drivers will probably have to pay tens of thousands of dollars to the family of the other.

I don’t see how anyone can determine his speed in that video.

ETA:

I’m sure there is a calculation using distance and frame rate. Besides the point. Two people are dead and it’s senseless to speak ill of either one. God rest both their souls.

Agreed. Was he speeding? Appears so. But his brother stated that he could've easily saw a car that SHOULD NOT have been turning into his lane hesitate and he sped up to get past her and she went anyway. She ran a freaking red light. Had she not done something illegally, both of them would be alive today. Period. I know that guys father very well. Played soccer for him for years. I'm devastated for him as he's now lost his wife and son within 10 months of each other. Sure, he could've been driving slower and yes, I detest motorcycles but she ran the light and was 100% in the wrong. It sucks all the way around and I hope like hell both families find some level of peace and comfort in the coming months and years.

Correct..

Also had he not done something illegal there is a good chance she would be alive and possibly him also.. going normal cautious speed through a pedestrian and high student traffic area and they both probably would have been able to react and possibly both be alive..

Don't disagree. People speed all the time but people also don't take illegal left turns through red lights all the time. Her mistake caused two deaths. Him driving slower might have caused just one death or none but HER mistake caused both. Period. I'm not trying to defend him speeding but none of this happens without her illegally running a red light.
