No sources just saying that I never seen team decline to play in a tournament before.

This is bad on all levels.

Anyone else think that we "declined" to participate because Alleva plans to move on from Jones and doesn't want him potentially "saving face" by going to the NIT and potentially going far in it?

Ben Simmons is the worst thing to happen to JJ. It put a bright spotlight on the program and the whole nation got to see his coaching ability.

When you as a coach decline a post season tournament invitation you and your Job status should be in deep trouble.

This is embarrassing an unprecedented.

I think Alleva doesn't want anymore negative attention towards the bb program, not getting to play in the ncaa tournament as been the focal point of this year.

If Jones is the coach next year somehow? expect no one to buy those tickets!

Hopefully Alleva makes a wise decision.

Why? They quit on a long time ago.

Serious question. What is there to gain by declining the invitation?

Seriously people, Simmons said he wasn't playing in the NIT and they backed out. Simple as that. We will see what comes out in the press but that is what happened. If Jones can keep his job after this I will be shocked.
