I feel like its ridiculous and embarrassing that they actually declined an invitation to the NIT, but at the same time declining to play may be less embarrassing than what could have happened in the tourney.

They were probably offered a road NIT game and with Simmons not playing in that, they chose to save face by declining.

Any chance Hornsby can get a medical redshirt or something? He's the only bright spot on this team

He should get Simmons' remaining eligibility.

Just goes to show that there was more to this story than we know yet...I dont think that this collection of players wanted to play together again....

would this have been a better TEAM without Ben?

Jones taking full responsibility and doing the things necessary to right the ship would include his resignation. That is not likely to happen, unfortunately. This job is over his head, IMO.

After the last miserable effort they put forth, I don't think there is anything this group could do to motivate themselves to put anything positive for another game. It's time to close the book on this season. It's over folks and it needs to be.

I love how all y'all just make significant claims without any source or evidence.

This year's team could not do anything to overcome even the smallest of adversities. We couldn't win in NOv-Dec without Hornsby and Victor. Then, in the Alabama game at home, when Hornsby couldn't stay in and play his usual minutes, we could not overcome that.

The coaches did not know how to handle this particular mix of players when anything even slight went wrong.

The truth is, we looked pretty good for about 6 weeks in Jan-Feb. That "team" went 9-3 in the SEC and beat UK and A&M and Vandy.

Agree! Too bad he couldn't pass on the SEC tourney. Would have saved us all a lot of embarrassment.

Honestly, I feel worse for South Carolina missing the NCAA, then for us being done, at this point.
