Yea he'd be a nice pick up.
Bob Bostad
Todd Washington
Jeff Grimes
Kevin Mawae
I'd be pumped about getting any of these four

well, not every name on your list is a proven coach AND a recruiter.

Its just a fricking OL coach, for fricks sake.
Any post you make after that comment is pointless and should be ignored because you proved your lack of knowledge with it.

As far as recruiting goes I think someone who played in the NFL 16 years, and was an 8 time pro bowl selection would impress a recruit, wouldn't you.
The knock against Stud is on teaching technique, not on situational responsibilities.
Mawae has the experience, the knowledge to teach both.
Coaching is teaching, and motivating, right?
I really don't see how you could go wrong with Mawae, someone who knows the O Line, knows technique, knows situational responsibilites, knows what it takes to be successfull at the highest level.

Mawae's recruiting pitch:
"Yes, my yellow blazer does say NFL Hall of Fame, please sign here".

Will he successfully be able to relate to them, forge lasting bonds with them, and get them to commit? Maybe we will find out, but other names on LSUs list have a proven track record of doing those things.

you have to remember aside from the above mentioned credentials he was also the lead player rep for the nflpa....
he is a very smart and influential person by all accounts...

OL are more intelligent than every other position, outside of QB, on average. His resume would carry some weight, when recruiting

Kevin may be in the Hall of Fame but never coached before or recruited anyone i mean look at Jason Kidd in Brooklyn with that being said Jeff Grimes is the guy

Anyone know why he left Auburn for VA tech? Just a victim of broad "restructuring" due to the bad season? Or was he specifically targeted?

I think they meant Grimes bro. If we hire him he would be homerun but I'm willing to bet he's going to cost us a shitload of money. I think he was/is the highest paid o-line coach in the country.

Is Bostad even a guy we are interviewing? I'd be pretty happy with hiring him. I'm more interested in a guy that will really coach up the O line more then just a recruiter if we have to choose.

I agree with this. Give us a guy who, above all else, teaches technique, discipline, confidence, and X's and O's. (Calling Bob Bostad?)

Grimes would be a home run hire! The guy has a proven track record of excellent line coaching and recruiting.

He made more than Stud?? Stud was making OC money.
Just checked.. Grimes was making 265k a year. Stud was making 500k a year.. We definitely wont be breaking the bank for this guy.
