They won't because I don't go to the fb games anymore. But if I did, if I wanted to go bad enough and it was something I truly enjoyed, I'd pay it if I could afford it. Nothing comes for free. Everything has a price. It's simply whether or not how valuable the object or experience is and whether or not you want to pay it.

As in this case, like everything else in life where it's a shared experince with others, when the costs are spread out among the many, the costs are smaller for everyone. But you can't make all these selfish and greedy individuals understand that. There's a lesson to be learned here for anyone paying attention.

Then you don't have a vested interest.

of course. with all the increases in fees, some fans are hard pressed to afford tickets and TAF dues.

As a Louisiana taypayer who provides taxpayer dollars to support the university and public lands on which the tailgating spots 3/4 mile from the stadium are located, i do believe that many who tailgating are paying a portion.

$140 and $280 with a possible $350 for trailers is not smaller.

correct, and those lessos have to do with logistics and public relations as much as costs. most people are not mad about paying to help out. it's the level of increase and the complete lack of trust in LSU to not make it a complete mess

I go to all home games and have been parking in the hay lot the last few years. I have no problem paying the $20 to park.Go to a Saints game, pay for parking.Go to Zephyrs game, pay for parking. Go to a concert, pay for parking. It's just part of the deal. The fact that LSU offered any free parking areas is kind of surprising. I will continue to go to all home games and pay my $20 and just be glad to be in Tiger Stadium.

compare parking costs and vicinity to stadium for LSU, Saints and Hornets

then get back to me

Saints and Hornets, as professional teams, are so much better for pay parking that it isnt even funny

Honestly never measured. I usually park in one of the hotel garages over towards Tulane/Gravier/Common area.

I've just always accepted parking as a necessary expense.

that is about 0.6 miles, and you also are paying for the security of an enclosed garage

Rouge, seems like most of the ranters who support this fleecing of the LSU fanbase have no vested interest.

Why they tie it to statements like "it's the cost to attend games, etc." is also humorous as the LSU football program not only is SO successful that it supports most of the other athletic programs, but it also feeds big money back in the academic side.

And when LSU significantly damages the cash cow, where will the money come from then?

The hay lot where I park is going to be $20. And I would gladly pay more for a reserved spot in a more secure location but I'm so far down the list my grandkids won't even smell a parking pass.

Again , I just accept this as part of the expense of going to the game.

The idea that this extra $20 is going to keep people from going to the game seems kind of crazy.

If $20 puts someone over the "break point" for being able to afford going to a football game then, maybe that person should rethink their financial priorities. I know for a fact that if another $20 was going to mean I couldn't afford going to the game, i wouldn't be going now.

Not so much the game but TAILGATING!

Almost all tailgate groups have people who simply show up and tailgate and watch the game at the tailgate or nearby bar then go home.

My tailgate group alone will be cut in half from 120 to about 60 people.

Who is going to pay $20 or $40 just to come to campus and tailgate? They'll probably just stay at home.

We have a group of 20 or so who come from New Orleans every game to tailgate, they are LSU alums. They have already told me this weekend will be there last tailgate. They arent going to pay $20 or $40 to park plus food and beer just to tailgate.

Local Baton Rouge economy will take a hit

Like I said, if $20 is the difference between doing it or not doing it then maybe you shouldn't be doing it in th first place.

I'm curious to know how many of those who greatly support the parking tax, attend all home games, what time they arrive on campus, and do they host tailgate parties?

For anyone who has a tailgate that has more than 10 people at it, its going to be more than $40 a game.

And again, it isn't necessarily that people are complaining about actually charging. It is the logistics and the arbitrary amount as such.

I park in one of the first spots when you pull into the Levee lot coming from Brightside. It is already over a mile hike to get to the stadium from that spot. Charging someone to park over a mile away $20 dollars is ridiculous. I already pay 100 a year for my commuter parking tag, not to mention I am stripped of those lots come 5pm on Fridays to allow non LSU affiliated patrons to park in the lots. Glad I am graduating and moving to Denver in May. I'll be enjoying the games from Brooklyn's near Invesco Field in the future.
