tons of people will.
And...how do you know that? Are you just assuming what others will do to fit your argument, like you just did with me?
I know it because im not retarded. not to mention ive already spoke to quite a few people who said they likely wouldnt bother except for 1 or 2 games next year.

Not for the parking lots at LSU
I pay $280/ yr to park my car at LSU to work

$1 of each football ticket I buy goes into a campus beautifation fund (i.e parking lots)

You just said your wife and daughter aren't going to come out there for the day anymore?
They don't even come out there every game now as it is.
I was just using the few times she comes to the tailgate but not to the game as an example. If she decides not to do that any more, it may affect me from a selfish point of view...but if the net result is she isn't taking up a parking spot then I don't see where that is a bad thing when looking at it objectively.

Say what? ALL LSU employees and Students pay a parking fee each year.
Yeah I had to pay for a parking tag at LSU. I mostly walked to campus, but there were times I drove. It's supply and demand. The demand for campus parking on game day is pretty high so they can charge more. LSU needs the revenue.

LSU isn't a Mardi Gras parade.
That is certainly debatable.

Big Ten schools charge about the same for a parking spot per game. People pay it and tailgate and have a good time. Deal with it.

I won't go to games. Additionally I will support cuts to the university, abolishment of tenure, abolishment of sabbaticals, and additional funding for community colleges and trade schools. You win.

LSU needs the revenue
Yes but this is LSU ATHLETICS
LSU ATHLETICS payroll is fairly seperate from the university.
Hell with Bayou Country Fest, LSU ATHLETICS got the vast majority of the 7M profit from the event.

Jesus frick dude. This isn't the Big Ten or fricking Minnesota or Michigan St. Why are you even in this conversation when you don't even fricking live here? Keep enjoying your world famous Minnesota tailgating and let the people actually affected by this discuss it.

Does anyone feel confident that LSU will be able to properly handle the logistics of this plan?

Yeah. Don't worry. It's under control.

I've tailgated at Minnesota, Michigan State, Michigan, Northwestern, and Notre Dame and LSU. You'd be amazed at how similar tailgating is. Cook food, drink beer, and have a good time. Not much different.

Do you honestly still not get it? It's not about paying a parking fee. It's about having to pay 40 fricking dollars to park your car. 5 or 10 bucks... fine. But 40 bucks every game? Really? You can get a ticket to most games for less than that.
I think the prices are probably a little steep, and the way it appears they're going to try to do this sounds like it will be a mess. But I have a feeling a lot of people, maybe not the few of you that are actively discussing this with me, are offended by the concept and not the price.

You understand that my post was just raising the rhetorical to show how crazy it is rather than thinking LSU could do this effectively, right?

You must have attended some lame arse tailgating at LSU if you think it compares favorably to the tailgating at those other schools you listed. Just read the anecdotes in this thread from people talking about the preparation that goes into LSU tailgating.

So these people that normally come to the games are going to stop, outside of 1 or 2 games, because they now either have to pay ($20 or $40) to park or park in a different area?

can someone use the bayou superfest numbers on surrounding economic impact from what a two day fest and figure out over 8 games what the economic loss would be from a conservative estimate of people not showing up to simply tailgate anymore.
Put that against the revenue from est of collections for filling the lots (which may not happen if the numbers go down)
I wonder if they used surveys and whatnot to figure out the reservation cost of parking to tailgating/ coming to game without ticket/ having a ticket.

If you compare Minnesota tailgating to LSU tailgating one more time I'm gonna book a flight on Expedia and come up there and punch you right in your Golden Gopher vagina.

That's true, but pay the $40.00. If you can't afford the 40 bucks to pay for parking then maybe you ought to save your money.

Everyone I've talked to today is offended by the price, not the concept. If money is tight, and they need $10 per car to pay for clean up, paying for police, etc, fine, no problem. $40 per car is price gouging.
