Being qualified means you have to have a PhD? For marching band? Do all DCI directors have PhD's? I realize we are talking about college and all, but I have had some awful college professors back in my day with fancy multiple degrees and not be able to teach letters of the alphabet.
And then I had Grad assistants teach me everything I ever wanted to know about anything because their heart was in what they were teaching.
Just saying there is a difference.

Frank Wickes did not have a PhD. He was also pretty good at what he did. I don't think the degree makes the musician.
I'm an old TB guy from the 80's. I have a lot of friends on FB from that era. The outrage of this is just amazing to see. It is wonderful to see so many people come together to support Roy King and Tiger Band.

However, that doesn't apparently seem to be the case now and it certainly isn't proper to fire someone post facto based on new and unpublished standards. Further, if he's so 'un-qualified', why not just put that out there and say 'hey, were canning him for poor performance'?
So, the adminsitration is looking into 'possible policy violations' and may be searching through 18 years of emails to find them? If that doesn't sound like a crock, then I can't help you.
Occam's Razor says this is most likely an internal dispute at the School of Music (CMDA) invloling control and a grab after money -money that the Athletic Department would never sign off to be used in any way than it already is (which makes those outside of TGBFTL who want it really, really moronic because they can't see this).
Bottom line: if you don't want TGBFTL (which includes the Color Guard and Golden Girls) at games, vote for the weeny Dean Queen at the School of Music, I guess.
