Sitting 88-89 or CAN throw 90 and can offer a 78mph change doesnt get you in the 1st round IMO FWIW.

I have been out of the loop with the whole baseball recruiting...can anyone fill me in on some big names we have picked up that we are hoping do not go pro.
Obviously after reading this I know about ZVR and im familiar with the Northshore pitcher for 2011..other then those two who do we have committed
some of the top names, guys I see being drafted. (Doesn't mean they will sign)
Zach VonRosenberg RHP
Brody Colvin RHP
Forrest Garrett LHP
Slade Heathcott OF
after that you'll have your occasional player jump up maybe in the draft, but these are the guys with the highest chance of going pro.

Adam, are Heathcott and Garrett in the same class as Colvin and ZVR, or are they for the following year's class? Also, where is Colvin projected to go?

Garrett and Heathcott are both 09's if that's what your asking.
As for Colvin, I've heard teams are willing to pick him as high as the 3rd round. I'm just hoping they hold out because I think Colvin is going to be the best of the bunch. He has a very very strong committment to LSU right now, but we will have to see.

The question will be what type of money is thrown his way, not what round he is picked in. I think he will slip in the draft do to his strong commitment to LSU. That doesnt mean they wont throw top 3 round money at him.

That tends to happen to high school pitchers that can hit 96 mph on the radar gun.

is it garrett or heathcott that had to have surgery on his arm?

well, i spoke with his father a couple of years back. all he ever spoke of was his son playing in the confines of alex box stadium....it was a dream he supposedly instilled in his son and probably still carries that with him. i say, he comes for a couple of years and gets stronger and then goes. FWIW

Colvin is a SEC reliever all the way and combining him with Matty would give LSU a very formidable late inning tandem.
Just think. Every game for LSU's opponents is a 6 or 7 inning game

Reidie and broussard are also very good pitchers that are coming into the lsu system in the next few years. The future is great for lsu baseball!

Von Rosenburg will be pitching tonight for the 4A title against Sam Houston.

I have a feeling Ott will be a starter next year, or at least a long reliever.

Didn't he pitch against Belle Chasse? Does he have a brother that plays for Zachary as well? Will he be a prospect?

Can someone who has seen our Parkview commitment play comment on his game and our chances of getting him on campus?

Probably right. I have seen him throw as well with a high school coach that is a friend and he heard that he probably would not be a Round 1 pick. However, if he is taken in the first ten rounds I believe that would be guaranteed money. We'll just have to wait and hope he falls down the board and hope the signing bonus is not massive.

No chance. He is one of the best closers in the NCAA. That's his job for the next several years.
Finding a quality and consistant closer is a very difficult thing to do.(at every level) LSU has one, a young one, don't mess with that
