Dumb statement, but it doesn't really matter if we are #2 after week 4 or even at the end of the regular season. Any undefeated SEC team will go to the ship over any other undefeated team from any other conference. As long as we are #1 in the final polls in January I don't really care where we are now.

Actually Robert Smith is one of the guys that likes LSU, along with Palmer and Trevor Matich. IMO, he's basically saying LSU shouldn't be #1 until they beat Bama in November. I think everyone can agree that being the best team in the country doesn't always correlate with being ranked the #1 team in the country. Just my thoughts.

Odds LSU vs Bama has a countdown ticker on the bottom line for game week?

I say 80%.

I liked his attitude on the field. He just seemed so calm. I know one game isn't going to give his true potential.. but from what I saw that night.. 'to me' he out shined the OU QB.

Landry Jones is pretty good.

Theres your problem. Dude hates anything and everything about Louisiana for some reason. He's a hack.

Don't know why he has such a bias against LSU.

This. The guy is terrible.

I knew they liked us, but Robert Smith has always picked against us and loves boise, I haven't seen him much this year. My hate comes from years ago

I think people don't take Oregon as serious anymore with how they do when a physical team plays them and just destroys them in the trenches

Then they shouldnt fricking rank them in the top 5.

Who cares? Just keep winning and all this takes care of itself. I like our position.

The thought is right, but his comments are wrong. There is no need to jump LSU over OU unless the Sooners stumble big time, and LSU continues to roll.

Anyway, when you are top 5 this early, you just have to keep winning... position is irrelevant yet.

Stated that we havent had a 'statement' game yet and this wont be it either.

I'd love to know Smith's predicition for Pac12 champion. I bet you it was Oregon.

Sure, if you value speculation and subjective definitions of potential over actual accomplishments.

could you imagine if Alabama played our schedule and beat 3 top 25 teams on the road to start the season? the whole national media would be crowning them champs already and calling them one of the best teams of the decade

I mean as long as we're number 2 at the end of December, I honestly couldn't care less.

With that being said, beating number 3 at a neutral site by multiple scores and going on the road to play against Moo State are much greater statements than one win against Florida State.

I mean you could argue that LSU and OU's schedules comparable I suppose if you really want to give that much of the benefit of the doubt to FSU. But to say that LSU doesn't have a statement game is absolutely ludicrous.

That's what is wrong with preseason rankings. Now people will refuse to put the rightful teams in the right spots because some ranking before the season said something different.

ESPN complains about the SEC scheduling and then rewards teams that have a joke of a schedule. Hypocrisy is so typical over there but shite.
