Why is it that our DBs are always step or two away from WRs? I know we play zone mostly (due to lack of cover corner skilled players) but crap, this is unbearable to watch. Ole Miss is going to embarrass us, and I have to be so liquored up to numb the pain for that game.

Because from a talent perspective, our BEST DB would be a bench player for almost every other major conference team.

We are heavily reliant on qb pressure to help backend. I wish we had just one good man cover corner.

Flip side of that is that if the DBs could hold their coverage for about 1 second longer (on many plays), the rush would be getting home. They always seem to be hitting the QB as he releases.

JK Johnson is playing some ball
If you break down his reps, he’s winning 85-90% of the time.
He got beat deep vs Carolina but was right there — just didn’t find the ball. And it was his first game in 18 months.
Also got a phantom PI call that game. But other than that was solid.
Very solid again vs UCLA.
He’s got recruiting pedigree. Big time experience at tOSU. Length and speed necessary to play in the SEC.

Its not the corners; its the safeties!

The safeties are beyond atrocious
Just leave Spears out there and his mistakes; the veterans aren’t any better and Spears will continue to grow

Ryan and Burns are terrible. Gilbert is only serviceable in run defense. Stamps lets the WR have wayyy too much room to catch the ball. Woodland is a true freshman and is 160lbs. JK Johnson and Zy are decent but a little too slow.

Time to bench Burns and Ryan. Let’s roll with the young guys and let them learn.

I love stamps but I truly don’t how if he would even be the 5th corner at GA

Yea unfortunately we are devoid of a corner that can cover any type of wideout.
Stamps struggles vs shifty type wideouts
Zy struggled vs burner type wideouts
Woodland doesn’t have the size to guard a Tre Harris big physical type of wideout
Derek Stingley had the athleticism and size to hang with any type of wr on an island, so did Patrick Peterson, so did Claiborne, so did Tre white, greedy Williams and Kristian Fulton. Jus not a guy of that caliber rn thankfully we have that coming next year in DJ Pickett

Stamps isnt good. We poorly evaluated his high school tape. He was always lost and a step behind the receivers but in-accurate QB’s and below average receivers always made it look like he had good coverage
