Have you considered that there may be a reason they don't play for the offense?

Not an excuse. Creating turnovers is a big part of being on defense. Missed opportunities that allow a team to keep the ball and possibly score are killer.

ETA And lets just drop this notion that any defensive back is just a wide receiver with brick hands.

Brick hands? Agreed.

But the people with the *best* hands better damn well be on offense, not defense.

I'd venture to say the skill sets are quite different between WR and secondary, and not having good hands. Being able to run precise routes, anticipate throws, vs backwards mobility and being able to anticipate the receivers moves all while keeping track of the ball.

A lot of the LSU drops were when we were protecting a big lead and it was better to drop a 4th and long pass than intercept it.

Pretty sure those are counted as PBU's.

When you look at a team like Miami, they likely have an extra 3 losses if it wasn't for turnovers. There were a few games they were struggling with inferior opponents and INTs and fumbles turned those games.

If we improve takeaways and STs including FGs we likely turn at least 2 games our way.

How many dropped INT's resulted in eventual scores for the other team?
