Much better running back and NFL defensive back than Coach 22-21 couples of ties at LSU. Cheers

When I played for St. Agnes football in the '50's, Stoval, Scooter Purvis and Cannon came to talk to our team. The Stabler Brothers were the coaches at St. Agnes

West Monroe High School was just a few years old and irrelevant when he played there, so I am not surprised he was overlooked.

Not retiring the number. Players will still wear that number. #20 is the only retired jersey number.

Stovall may have been the best college player in the country his senior year. He lost the Heisman to a non-entity QB in no small part because LSU’s Cannon had won it a couple years before. Also, he had a decent pro career n’cest pas?

Should've won the Heisman, great offensive and defensive player

Heard about this on AFR yesterday for the first time. I'm a little younger so don't know much about the older LSU guys - but it sounds like they were skeptical about giving the award to another LSU RB only a few years after Billy Cannon, but that Stovall was no doubt the better of the two candidates. Guess the guy from Oregon State was the first player from west of the Mississippi to win the award.

People can't seem to get that through their head. Since 2007 LSU no longer retires numbers, just jerseys. It is subject to the discretion of the head coach if a player can use that number.
