Just saying, LSU is an attractive option for recruits with NFL aspirations. The smart ones realize its easier to transition from the spread in h.s. to pro style in college than it is to transition once drafted.
LSU certainly has the in-state talent to morph into Oregon or Ohio State, with about the same NFL pedigree.
You may place winning in college ahead of NFL success, but I doubt the players do. We don't need to change the offense, as indicated by the article, what we need to change is QB recruiting, specifically with regard to acquiring depth at the position.
We should never be in a position to start a sophomore at QB.

Is it just me but I'm so envious of Clemson's Deshaun Watson, Tennessee's Dobbs , Ohio States 12 gauge, Auburn's Johnson, and MSU Prescott how do we miss on cerebral and athletic qb's like these I just don't get it that can consistently move a offense with great efficiency!
Those offenses ask their quarterbacks to be more than a game manager. I think our quarterbacks know that as long as they successfully hand the ball off to LF and company and do not turn over the ball, they will play alot. I guess it just depends on what kind of quarterback you aspire to be. Many of these quartbacks come out of spread offenses in high school and want to throw it 50-60 times a game and make plays, and therefore look for college programs that will let them do this.

I don't disagree with anything you've said. But there is little doubt in my mind we could still pull in elite recruits without having a pro style offense and instead having more of a spread style. Would we miss out on some recruits? Maybe. But do you think our offense last year and other sputtering offensive teams we've had didn't also scare off some elite QBs and WRs in the past?

If we do go this route, and I'm not advocating one way or the other, LSU will be sacrificing some of its prestige as an NFL pipeline for WRs, RBs, and, even QBs.
See quote from Franks:
I get where you're coming from, but I have a hard time believing LSU wouldn't have landed Landry, Beckham, Hill, etc in an offense that at least runs the spread more than a bare minimum. these guys would much rather get experience in the pro style and get more touches
LSU doesn't have to leave the pro style, but it's okay to spread the field more than we do now. What LSU ran last season was a shell of a dynamic pro style offense anyways. My grandfather felt like he was back in the 60s watching that offense.
And at some point, this offense is going to cost LSU more than 5 games, which is going to lose recruits either way. there's got to be some middle ground made with adjustments

Who's this? Has he done anything?

Until LSU starts looking for traditional pro-style QBs, they are not shifting their focus. Miles will have to change his offense to get the most out of these DT qbs, but we know with the hiring of Cam that this will most likely not happen in the near future.
LSU went undefeated with a garbage OC and a decent out-of-highschool 4-star Jarrett Lee in his SR year. So with the game experience and lil talent you made something of an offense. Mettenberger (pro-style qb) led one of the better offenses in LSU history. National championship years came from pro-style qbs that weren't great by any means, just didn't give the ball away.
So unless CLM reshifts his recruiting to pro-style qbs which can utilize the great WR and RB prospects we recruit, we are in the same boat. Focusing on recruiting better DT QBs isn't going to fix putting the square peg in the round hole like everyone has been saying.

From the sound of it, I'd say this is exactly what the staff is hoping to accomplish this spring.

When we scout these kids, we scout them in a system that they are familiar with, geared to their strong points, and therefore, they flourish. Then we put them into a new system and they aren't as strong at developing as their bum high-school coach said that they were capable of... hence... our present situation. What kills me is the lack of developing an offense that these kids can understand and run effectively.
This.
I don't understand what the hell we are doing with these young QBs. They play in a spread system, put up massive numbers in a spread system, and then try to make them dropback passers who can occasionally run a read option.
IF YOU WANT DROPBACK PASSERS, RECRUIT DROPBACK PASSERS!

Thing is, is that the NFL it self is incorporating more and more spread elements in their offenses so I don't see it as big an advantage as it use to be in preparing for the NFL

We don't have a QB.

It's a trend to keep an eye on, but that's just another positive for the direction LSU is going in QB recruiting. Get a pocket QB with mobility... that QB could learn a spread offense pretty easily and has the skillset.
It's like knowing how to speak Latin and then learning any of the romance languages.

How many Quarterbacks has Miles put into the NFL?
