Thats a pretty high ranking for a team that went 5-5 last year

Preseason rankings should go away. That being said, it’s awesome that we can have a 5-5 season and still be ranked that high going into the next one.

Lot of teams in there way overrated and I've just accepted that OU and ND will always be ranked high to start the season, no matter how badly they are beaten when finally playing someone.

I agree that it's pretty high but I think it shows a few things -

1 - we are way more talented than last year's record
2 - new coaches will make an impact
3 - everyone expects a major bounce back season
4 - respect for the LSU brand/ program

Preseason rankings give everyone, fanbases, media something to talk about

That being said, I love seeing the people flip their shite over pre season rankings

But wait!!! The coaches are biased and HATE LSU!!!!!

Take off the P&G glasses for a moment. This is a team that struggled to get to 5-5 last season (every other team ranked ahead of them had a winning record last year). A team that is replacing BOTH coordinators with two guys that have NEVER been coordinators at the D-1 level AND just lost their (presumptive) starting QB. If any other team had that exact same set of facts the board would be screaming about how they are grossly overrated. Yet, the program has enough respect to STILL be ranked in the top 15.

Texas A&M at #6 is laughable.

Every team ahead of us had a better win pct than us last year. We are the highest ranked team that finished last year .500 or worst

Right in the area the 2003 NC team started at (14 AP, 15 Coaches Poll).

2021 - 13 AP, 12 Coaches poll

Just a side thought here but the PAC-12's highest ranked team is Oregon at number 12. Based on the number of votes, UCLA is 42nd.

That team was following up a 5 loss season as well.

ALL polls should go away - they're a relic from the past.

But preseason polls are even worse - just people voting before a single game is played. Pay them no mind.

Play the games, then we'll all know.

99 times out of 100, I would agree. JT did a good job last year when he played.

A&M, fla, nd, all way too high. A&M /nd is A&M/nd. No way florida finishes as a top team with Emory at qb.

I do love seeing some new blood in that top ten. NC, Cincy, Iowa St.

Agreed, but you and I both know NC and Cinn aren't legit top 10 teams...but will be up there based on schedule. Not sure Cinn even plays a legit team. It's good to give these teams ink though, just like ULL.

no doubt. when you see new teams show up like this is normally means that there is some new blood in the coaching ranks. get tired of the same old same old.
