Also, I believe Russell Shepard was the biggest unused talent LSU has ever had. I sure would have like to seen him get more touches.

One of the best things about Shep graduating is maybe it will cut down on the posts about him getting more touches. If he didn't have butter fingers he would have been a starting wide receiver and got plenty of touches. He wasn't a Percy Harvin type player as many people on this board seem to believe.

Of course it's already been discussed

In fact, it's been discussed all day today and every day since the end of this season and its also been discussed a few times during the season.

Shep wasn't wasted or unused. He just wasn't as good as advertised

I have respect for all of the young men that have entered the arena of college football, especially at LSU.

Some may not live up to your expectations, but please show some respect for those that have worked and sacrificed for LSU. They deserve it.

What about offensive players for LSU that never lived up to expectations?
I bet your percentage would be above 50%

I read an interview with Bill Walsh in a business magazine years ago (HBR maybe). His comment was that blue-chip recruits typically follow a bell curve no matter where you go. 2 will live up to expectations, 3 will be solid contributors, 3 will contribute some if you ride them hard enough, and 2 will flop.

Hawkins was a bust in the sense that Saban recruited him and he did nothing for LSU. Cal on the other hand.......

Jared Mitchell was great at baseball but never scored a TD at LSU. Tough to be that highly recruited in Football and never score a TD, have only 300 yards in receiving and not be a bust, no?

I really wouldn't use the term for him given how injuries affected his career. But I typically only use the word "bust" for guys like XCarter, Chris Garrett, etc.

How can you say Alley was a bust but not Murph? Odd

And the straight up busts in my mind are:
Chris Davenport
Terrance Toliver
Xavier Carter (In football)

Uh...last time I checked, Perrilloux wasn't in NY for the Heisman ceremony and was an onfield distraction to the team, so HB it is!

Toliver made it to the NFL - how is he a bust again?

Maybe the problem here is in the expectations, not the players.

Bunch of people make it to the NFL, hell Cutrera "made" it to the NFL... How about let's "make it IN" the NFL.

And I'm going off college alone... I understand he had lack luster QB play, but he had his chances to be the big man, ball snagging guy everyone has been salivating about and it never happened. If I recall he was around, if not, the #1 WR coming out of High School.
