First, the head of any program has the right to determine who works for him. Each of you would want the same discretion if you were heading up an organization or significant program.
As you are aware, you can have great talent around you but if there is a disruption to the chemistry then things are never going to realize their potential if there is a malignant personality in the group. Over my years I have hired many a talented clinician and some simply didn't play well with the rest and they simply had to go. I was generally up front about the reason(s) when I was firing them, hoping it might be a learning experience for them. In some cases it was and in some cases it wasn't. One of my more talented interns ten years later still can't hold a job due to shitty people skills. I gather this is also a trend for Canada.
I always considered Canada a desperation hire after Kiffin backed out. You have to break a few eggs to make an omelet. Putting a good staff is frequently a trial and error thing. They did not have much tune to vet last time. I am sure they are bring more deliberate this time. Whether the fans like the person or not really doesn't matter. What matters is the person knows what they are doing, can fit in with the rest of the program, and is committed to working at LSU and tO helping to achieve the program's goals.

The new OC has already been hired, just hope he's a good one.

Jordan Jefferson reportedly nailed his interview at the manning academy.

Yeah I’m not a fan of this hiring all your boys.. but then again who will want to work for him that isn’t one of his boys.

Next season is going to be a dumpster fire.
LSU has been a dumpster since Joe leaked they were firing Miles after the bama loss in 15. Just bad move after bad move.

True that. There are actually teams all across college football and the NFL integrating elements of Canada's offense into their offenses.

Could not have said it better myself.
I will say it did show some growth for CEO to immediately have a guy of Cregg's caliber take over. From the start the Canada hire had indications it would not work out. His recruiting style does not play as well in big time southern hs football just a fact. From the first day of camp all we heard was tempo tempo tempo, then the injuries and transfers hit and CEO made an adjustment (right call) and Canada didnt like it.
Going forward unlike most I am perfectly fine with CEO going with staff members he is very familiar with as long as they are qualified. This is the SEC probably has the most turnover of assistant coaches of any of the Power 5, a lot of Big Ten coaches stay a long time, even through HC changes. Recruiting is a never ending cat and mouse game, that is why I am willing to take some hiccups early on, he can recruit like no other. If we get Surtain and Joseph, there are 5 legit best of the best recruits that will anchor this class.

Doesn't matter who we hire. No OC can implement a truly new offense in a single summer. Especially when the previous style had been entrenched for eleven years. All things considered Canada did a great job with what he had.
IDK man. Look at what Lane and Briles did at FAU in one year. Look what Strong did at Texas in one year with Gilbert I'm not asking for it to be truly implemented in one year, but we need to change up the style NOW. There is no reason that the best a school like LSU can get out of their QB is Etling's play this year. By year two with an experienced QB, WRs, OL, and RB, it should be the best offense we've ever had.
Phil Longo
Sterlin Gilbert
Kendall Briles

Lots. Wouldn’t surprise me if we go 6-6 next season. But wouldn’t you rather do it with an OC who is gonna be here a few years and could grow with all the new players? Wouldn’t you also concede that even if Canada comes back, due to his track record of leaving and openly looking for a HC gig somewhere, that next year would almost certainly be his last in Baton Rouge? That’s what you’d prefer?
I would prefer Canada come back and LSU be better offensively next season even if he’s gone following that. Rather than a new OC going 6-6 with O as HC and probably hurting recruiting more. Who knows. I just want LSU to compete.

6-6 next season? LOL. We have far too much talent in our program for that.
