Not saying anything contractual. Just saying the NCAA should step in like they did this year with the 25 scholarship limit.
No limit no problem?
I see where you're going with this.. this penalize the talent rich, level the playing field? Sports socialism?
I say tuff shite, he had offers from ULL, ULM etc where he could've been top dog with no chance of losing scholarship. Hell, I'm sure he could've started as a Frosh in B10.
And I'm sure if he seriously overachieved and was a projected early pick he wouldn't mind abandoning the team and going Pro.
The loyalty angle doesn't sit well with me.
I see it as just another chance to get a dig in on Miles and LSU. I mean that's what you're actually here for.
Did you think we didn't know of Porter GS or didn't you believe what you read originally?
What's the point of post?

Never knew any team did this until I saw it posted on a Hawkeye Message board that LSU did it and that is why I wanted to get LSU's fan base perspective.
I'm really having a hard time with the concept of:
A) a whole CFB fan site that has never, ever heard of over-signing or greyshirting
B)a whole CFB fan site completely unfamiliar with which teams out there that routinely practice over-signing recruits
C) not knowing that this is not only the first time LSU has done this, but a total surprise that it occurred this year
D) not take the time to research why the over-signing happened this time I.E. unexpectedly having all 27 recruits academically qualify

I bet he's one unorganized cluster frick in real life too.
I have no personal knowledge of that, so I will not hazard a guess.

Yes, but Les Miles is the HC and with that position comes the ultimate responsibility.
Miles' problem isn't that he signed more than 25 players. Everyone does that and, under the current NCAA system, you pretty much have to if you want a full roster in the Fall. Miles' problem is that he signed too many players with the intelligence to make a C+ average, the strength of character to stay out of trouble between signing and enrolling, and the commitment to LSU to turn down offers from professional baseball teams. Clearly, what Les needs to do from now on is to sign more low-life, uncommitted morons. Then the problem won't exist.

I'm hopping out of this thread. Keep winning football games.

Or he could give his comittments more of a heads up than the week of.
As has been stated by Porter and apologized for by Miles.

And actually, recruiting academically "stonger" kids would eliminate this since we could assume they WOULD qualify but you know what that would mean.

He didn't know whether Gore or Wing(Aussie) would make it to campus. Most thought they wouldn't, thats the two spots right there. Wing's still not on campus and LSU didn't find out about Gore until last week, what was LSU suppose to do?

I think the 13th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution makes this problematic.

All I remember about Iowa is that our Nick Saban-coached team (you remember, when literally every move that was ever made was the right and perfect move and LSU was the most perfect program in every single way) lost to them the only time we played them. I went to that game. If it hadn't been for Jamarcus' heroics in the fourth quarter, it wouldn't have come to them needing a Hail Mary to win it.
So everyone can just shut their trap about Iowa not being on our level. At least wait until we beat them.

Decide who was going to be the greyshirt prior to the week of and give him some advance notice that it MIGHT happen.
This really is not that hard people.

A LIFO approach to assigning roster spots?

First come first serve.
Whatever is done, don't TAKE it away after it was given.

lsu signs less than 25 players per year since 2002. Way more schools have a higher number during that time (half the sec). Dont iowa state have signed more kids on avergae than lsu since 2002.
