Exactly. If you are a fan of a BCS school, they have taken a scholarship away from someone in recent years. Many schools are nice about it.

Some might claim its because of an injury, and allow the player to keep a scholarship at his current school (and face.) (And sometimes it is actually because of a career ending injury, but many of those "will no longer play football because of an injury" are more like "will no longer play football because his scholarship wasn't renewed.")

Schools also allow players to save face by having the player claim he is transferring for more playing time. When you see a player like that transfer to a small school where he makes little to no impact, you know he didn't do anything on the practice squad for your team and his scholly was probably taken away.

Was going to stay out of this thread but can't ignore this. You do realize there is a BIG difference between Iowa St. and Iowa? Iowa St. is the school that has done all of those things. I don't think Iowa has signed over 25 this decade.

I love how people are taking this way too seriously, but when a guy like delvin breaux breaks his neck and gets to keep his scholarship no one says anything about how great it is that a university does this. Or the medical hardship players receive for career ending injuries. LSU does this along with alot of other schools. Just like LSU has had greyshirts before along with a lot of other schools.

Yea, I know, but your attacking a La school when your state has one of the worst offenders.

looking at that link, I would say there is no correlation between exsessive over-signing and winning programs. In fact, I would say the opposite.

Maybe Germans,but here goes.
Scollies are for one year. A team may put 25 players per on scollie per year, but no more than 85 total at any one time.
CNS has made a good living over signing on NSD, but always comes in at 85 on the first day of school. Uof Hotty Totty signed 37 two years ago.

I would say we arent even an offender. This is the onyl yr we really had every guy qualify. Which is a good thing. if the kid takes the grey shirt or would have none of these threads would even matter.

You didn't know, that is why I corrected you. I'm not attacking LSU, I'm just not condoning this kind of behavior and don't think it is good for the kids or Universities.

So with your logic, then LSU should worry about what Northwestern St. does because it is in the same state? I don't condone what Iowa St. is doing and think they take a ton of chances on kids to try and compete. They are one of Iowa's biggest rivals and a team that isn't well liked by Iowa because of their practices.

And yet over-signing has going on for years at many schools. We do it once, and here you are giving LSU shite about it.

I asked you and you responded that this was the first time you heard about it, that you came here straight from a Hawkeye message board to question us about it.

And you seem unable to understand why people here might be a little peeved at your actions? Or that some people, myself included, wonder how any college football fan or fan base can be so singularly uninformed?

Yes, Virginia, schools do over-sign recruits. And one of the biggest proponents of doing so is the defending national champion.

Never heard of a team over signing before. Always wondered why teams can sign over 25 players a year even though you can only have 85 players on scholarship. Seems like an extremely shady thing to do.

Don't talk about logic & contradict yourself. Calling it a shady thing to do is attacking. Never heard of it before when it's so common is a reflection of your lack of awarenss of what is normal. The fact that I identified the Iowa team was from the Big12 & not the Big10 should of been an indicator to most, or it could of been my intent to make you research the link that proves it is common. I edited my Post in respect for your school. It does not change the fact that you were unaware of how common it occurs.

Most people saw Iowa and thought that the Hawkeyes practice the same recruiting techniques. Look at the posts directly below your mistake. That was a Big Blunder.

I'm not going take an insult that I don't use logic, from a poster that didn't know the difference between ISU and Iowa.

Wait over-signing was going on at your school's most hated rival, in your own state, and you come here and post:

Didn't realize ISU oversigns players, but did know they have signed more than 25 players in classes before because they have a ton of attrition by taking flyers on players no other team would. They will no longer be allowed to sign over 25 players since the new ruling.

Oversigning players is what happens when you don't have enough scholarships for the players you signed LOI with and the current players on scholarship. Never heard of ISU doing that before.

Ok, what I know is ya'll beat Saban in the last game that he coached at LSU. Other than that Iowa, Iowa ST, not much difference from where I sit. Does not bother me that I do not know about your school. I did not know whether you were Hawkeyes, or Jayhawks sorry. I'm only aware of the Big2.

Doesn't change your not being very informed.

So if I asked you how long you've been a fan of college football, what would you look at? A calendar or a clock?
