People act like the NCAA don’t want a regional in Baton Rouge. That couldn’t be any farther from the truth. Number 1 in attendance for years of course they want a region here. Stop the whining and grew some balls. And

If UCSB wins out I’d almost bet money they host. If nothing else than to spread it out geographically. There aren’t a lot of west coast teams in consideration to host.

Really! I thought the Pac-10 was going through some kind "renaissance" this year with two teams in the Top 5 and of course there's Oregon St.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Oh ok NCAA don’t care if they put their product on TV and viewers see tons of empty seats. Also NCAA still considers us as blue blood in baseball

I think LSU needs at least one win in the SEC, maybe 2 or 3 to be a comfortable host pick. It looks like A&M, heaven forbid, may have a leg up on the Tigers as it currently stands. I had no idea they were RPI 14. And they had a great weekend effort vs Arky.

I’m pretty sure that’s not the case any more.

Schools bid a fixed amount to pay the NCAA to be a host but it’s not supposed to influence the selection committee. They don’t even know what the bid amounts are when they vote on the host sites. At least that’s how Skip explained the process a few years ago.

Anyway, the bid money is small change compared to the ESPN contract to carry all of the tournament games. Which is why the selection committee tries to spread out the host sites geographically much more than they used to so that more TV markets are included.

If someone has a link explaining the process please post it. I couldn’t find one. Thanks.
