Really stupid of OBJ. Puts LSU in a bad light where, instead of celebrating a momentous season, they are scurrying around to clean up a mess made by this attention whore. I lost a lot of respect for OBJ.

It's a damn shame that this became a national story. Joe talking about it on PMT bummed me out too.

Yeah, I'm in Colorado. Much respect given to the team, but this is a national story. Really unfortunate

I feel this was gonna blow over until Burrow contradicted LSUs initial report and said the money was real.

To be fair, I don’t think Joe realized Odell was caught on camera passing it out to anyone and everyone in the stadium. Think he was just referring to Odell giving him some cash at Red Eye.

It’s really just Odell’s fault

Burrow was still drunk during that interview. He admitted as much afterwards. He probably wasn't thinking that what he was saying could get LSU in hot water with the NCAA.

Does Joe deserve any criticism for snitching in a live interview? I mean, kinda a dick move if you ask me.

I think if he would’ve been sober he would've handled it differently, and I wish that had been the case. So yeah, maybe a tiny, tiny bit of criticism ... but I can’t fairly put more than that on him without coming off as a hypocrite. He’d been wound up tight for months and A LOT had happened in the last 12 hours. No surprise that he went out and got wasted and got no sleep, and his judgment was impaired. I’d put a bit more toward the question of why he was in a relatively unstructured interview situation at a time like that. The money was already a known issue for team/school leaders, so why not play it safe and have somebody Joe trusts available to advise him, prep him, lay down ground rules for interviews, whatever? I can attest from one bizarre professional encounter with compliance over $5 that didn’t even go to the athletes in question that they and the NCAA need zero provocation to go scorched earth no matter how silly the “violation”. I get why Joe couldn’t think all of that through right then, but I hate that it looks like he wasn’t guided better by somebody who could. Idk, maybe he was and he didn’t listen — but that’s the only thing that would change my feeling about his response.

Regardless, here’s the absolute bottom line: None of that — Joe’s resources, team response, interview style — would have been an issue if OBJ hadn’t pulled that stunt on national TV in the first place. He’s a professional, he knows what kind of position he could be putting the whole team in, and whatever extenuating physical or emotional circumstances might have compromised Joe’s judgment in that interview should not have been any sort of factor in OBJ’s behavior the night before.

I know he’s done a lot for the team, players and recruits love him, etc., but you can acknowledge all of that and still say that he was completely out of line the night of the game. I think we all agree that toddlers shouldn't be allowed to run wild enough to cause damage or distract people at work no matter how enthusiastic they are, and toddlers legit don’t know any better. A grown man who still can’t control those impulses needs to be treated the same way unless/until he learns that you can be the life of the party without wrecking shite that doesn’t belong to you.

Joe’s interview was taped before LSU said anything about it hours later. He probably never saw the on field incident and how it blew up on social media.

This is the headline now, not the greatest season ever. Even if nothing happpens... you don't think opposing coaches are going to use it for negative recruiting for months ..."don't go to LSU they are about to get sanctions"...

OBJ is a cancer. frick HIM.

I agree. As I've said before, these kids were caught up in the biggest moment of their lives and here is the famous OBJ handing out money on top of all of that. If they had time to think about it at all (which is doubtful under the circumstances), they would likely figure OBJ knew what he was doing.

This is all OBJ slinging cash around, getting attention for himself to look like a big shot etc...

It's time for OBJ to come out and take the heat on this money thing. He doesn't have to address the idiocy of his smacking the security officer for which there is now an arrest warrant. He can stick to the money gig.

OBJ is not who I'd want my kids looking up to right now. I pray that none of the kids going to the NFL turn into him or look at him as a figure head. He's the epitome of who not to become as a person.

I don't know what interview you're talking about, but the one where Joe said OBJ was handing out real money happened at 8 or 8:30 a.m. on 1/14/20. Interview happened an hour or an hour and a half after Joe got back to the Marriott at 7:30 a.m. after a night of drinking with former players at a bar on S. Peters St.

I know, that’s my point. LSU didn’t come out with the “fake money” explanation until later that day. Joe wasn’t contradicting anyone when he gave that interview.

Jesus calm down Odell is an LSU legend he isn’t gonna be banned due to making a mistake while he was drunk. The amount of LSU FANS that are turning on Odell is flat out disgusting. All he’s done for the program and y’all are going to shite on him for one mistake wtf

All he's done for the program? He just trashed it with one stupid, self-centered move. Good grief, my six year old knows better than to hand an NCAA athlete cash.

He's an attention whore that needed another 15 minutes since he was inconsequential last season.

Plain and simple...tell OBJ to just move on and don't come back!
