LSU isn't defying odds, they are meeting expectations, thus far.

Lsus roster isn't depleted. On paper, they outmatched everyone except UGA and Bama. I've said this all along.
All of this 7-5 crap was being spewed by people who either didn't have faith in Orgeron or people who wanted to defend O by claiming a difficult schedule as the excuse.
I am a diehard LSU fan. It makes me sick to my stomach hearing next year will be our year or some of the posters talking about "negatigers".
Congratulations, we are where we were, year to date, at this point in 2015. We weren't even surprised to be killing opponents at this point. It was ok cool, but are you going to beat Bama? Les Miles, who had won a natty and played for another was on the hot seat 1.5 months later in 2015.
What the frick is the beating of the chest going on? 4 and 5 star players at EVERY position. The doubt was on Ed O, not them. Win the DIVISION or shut up. We all support this team, but dang if people aren't acting like hes a coaching God because we are where we should he.... so far.
Everyone here is making this about O. This is about wanting LSU to win championships before recruiting classes actually do begin to decline and then we really have a reason to be excited about beating a top 10 team.

they definitely have the talent to win ten games. there was never a question imo.

Yesterday they literally defied the odds since they were a 10 point underdog.

In my view it was both - little to no confidence in O and the tough schedule.

All the "our talent isn't as good" talk was purely about lowering expectations by the pro O crowd.
Our talent has never been in question. Whether our coaches are capable of putting that talent in the best situations was the question. Also, for the future of the program, can we do it in such a way that we can improve the overall talent of the team through increasingly good recruiting.
Those questions largely remain, though yesterday did move shift things a bit towards yes.

I think I agree with you, but the game yesterday is about as exciting as it gets for a football fan, and exactly why you watch games.
This board overreacts to everything. Having hyper positivity after beating a team just as talented as ours in their stadium is not the worst it could be for a few days.
It will wear off and there will be more complaining after next week.

Most of the people who predicted 6-6 are idiots.
The talent is there, this team had enough to contend.

Which is a narrative pushed by those whose choice of a successor to Les Miles wasn't selected. Think of the mentality of a toddler that doesn't get the toy she wants. We have been witnessing a months long internet tamper tantrum. It will continue as long as Orgeron is the head coach and possibly beyond.

They were underdogs against MIA & Auburn. MIA was favored by what? 16-16.5 points.. Then Auburn was a 10 point favorite. So technically they are defying the odds.

Agreed totally. This team has the talent to compete with anyone including FL, GA, AL, AU, & Miss.ST.
Coaches are supposed to put players in a position to make the play/succeed. LSU coaches have done that so far this year, for the most part and majority of snaps in three games.
Coaches have explained the rule book (pre-season and game to game) - penalties show lack of execution - by the players.
When the players fail to execute when coaches put them in a position to succeed and they fail to make a catch, block, tackle or blow a coverage, its on the players.
Then its up to the coaches to re-coach the failure to execute, make adjustments during game time, or bench the players who don't execute.
This is the "process" that Saban preaches and has implemented over the last 20 plus years. Thus, your team should get "better" each week. This is Saban's undisputed formula for success at LSU & Bama.
Coaches have LSU going in right direction - they must keep it up going forward to gain my confidence...I'm still not sold on Orgeron, but its encouraging so far and headed in the right direction, so far.
This is all assuming decent play calling & good game plan (offensive scheme). Miles was constantly not putting our offense in a position to succeed by predictable play calling and rigid, antiquated game plans that never changed regardless of talent, personnel, or players strength, weaknesses, or experience.
This coaching staff is not predictable in play calling and has a better offensive scheme that is not rigid and is taking advantage of talent, personnel, or players strength, weaknesses, or experience.
Things are looking better, but proof is in the pudding.
Beat Bama and GA.

You’re an idiot - especially since you chose to use the word “odds”. LSU was the underdog in 2 of their 3 games and you apparently have no idea how difficult it is to win in Jordan Hare when Auburn is a top 10 team.

Coach O got the talent....he and his staff busted their asses getting the talent...
Give them credit where credit is due....
The talent was inexperienced and that’s why there were question marks about this team...
Coach O and his staff got the team ready to compete....
And that is just what they did....

Actually, almost everyone was open minded about O before getting throttled by State and then him openly admitting to messing with Canadas offense after a home loss to Troy.
Arandas defense is special this year.
The offense looked much improved but Burrow missed many throws and ensminger got conservative

Pretty much but it’s also not as if every other team in the sec is going undefeated. People act like we are the only team with flaws.

Yes O got the talent, especially the transfers. That's why we are winning this year instead of waiting to win next year or there after.
O deserves all the credit for recruiting and getting the talent. Expectations are very high and we play the very best...jury is still out on end results.
Saban is the standard to be measured by just like Paterno, Bryant, Meyer, Hayes, Johnson, Bowden & many others.
Fanbase and I want Championships. No excuses or half measures will due.

Down voters trying to mitigate expectations. OP is right, but this win is, personally, one of the most satisfying wins I can remember in recent years. So, I’m gonna savor it for a while and wait at least a few days before worrying whether or not it’s fool’s gold. In the meantime, kudos to O and the staff for the win.

This is not even close to true. We have a small number of five star starters - ZERO on offense before Deculus got the nod. We have perhaps three on defense. Only Rashard and Fulton were true five stars. Devin White and Phillips were borderline iirc.
There are more three stars than five stars in our starting lineup. Cush, Lewis, Jefferson, Foster, Greedy.

Meeting expectations?
Sounds like my former boss when I hit 100%...that’s what you were supposed to do. Nice. But we played and beat 2 top 10 teams on the road in 3 weeks. Neither game were we expected to win by the “experts” or by Vegas.
This man everything is perfect, great, etc...? No. But this team played hard, won tough games and should be proud. I think they’ve more than meet expectations so far.
