So bowl selections should be based on the team with the more flashy offense? Got it.

Obviously isn't based on resume. I know it's hard to hear, but nobody wants to watch LSU play other than LSU fans who themselves can't even bear to watch them play. What makes you think our style of play will attract viewers? JFF will attract more tv viewers, not 3rd and 4 and a FB dive.

It would have been nice if any of these teams...you know...actually beat us, or more than one of them was ranked higher than us.

Umm...UF beat us, UF and UGA are ranked higher, and AtM is ranked one spot behind us.

I am a little baffled at the excuses some are giving is that it's due to ratings. Obviously, some of you have never kept up with LSU's tv ratings compared to TAMU. We pull higher tv ratings than they do, own the head-to-head and have a better resume of wins than they do. Let's try this again, but this time, provide legitimate excuses for LSU being hosed they way that they were.

Right now what bowl game we play in doesn’t matter,” wide receiver Jarvis Landry tweeted. “All that matters is we keep a winning tradition. I’m just so happy to take the field.”

I hope you motivate that statement to all LSU seniors not coming back and any juniors not coming back for that matter. From BCS last year to Chic Filet is a major drop off.

networks care about ratings...bowls care about money. The Cotton wants A&M because it will provide a bigger local economic impact.

I cannot fully concur with that statement as when LSU played the Aggies in the Cotton Bowl, LSU fans dominated that stadium an city and spent a helluva lot with good TV ratings.

The OP and Putty have this figured out. While the Cotton Bowl has renewed energy and prestige and recruiting in Texas is important I don't see the CFA Bowl as being all that bad. Won't it be one of the seven BCS Bowls going forward (along with the Cotton)? Honest question - will the TV ratings on NYE be better or worse than the Friday night before the NCG weekend? With the Clemson match-up I think we got a better deal than both Florida and Florida State. The Orange Bowl might be 1/3 empty yo. CFA will sell out like it does every year and we'll end the season an 11-2, top-5 team with momentum for next season.

Here's our resume: We let Towson hang around We let a horrible Auburn team hang around We let a horrible Ole Miss team hang around We let a horrible Arkansas team hang around We even let Mississippi State hang around for a little while. We lost a stinker to UF We lost the game we played best in all year - Alabama Our "signature wins" were AtM and USCe - both of which came down to the wire We have come alive on offense but have seen the defense regress. I think UGA, UF and even AtM deserve better bowls than us

Well said. This is it in a nutshell.

Because bowls don't care about resumes, it's all about TV viewers. Always has been.

And LSU gets better TV ratings than almost anyone. But certainly better than UGA, USCe, and A&M. So, if its all about TV, how come we're in a lesser bowl than three schools we got better TV rating as? And beat two head to head?

We beat A&M at their house, we handled their QB, and we are higher ranked in every poll.

I don't see questioning LSU not going to the Cotton over A&M given the above factors as whining.

Having said that, I'm proud of this LSU team over coming serious injuries/player loses and earning the right to play in the postseason with a shot at another high nation ranking.

Because it's a bowl, not a playoff. It's why the bowl system needs to go.

There's prestige and money on the line so there needs to be a post-season process that's based strictly on merit. The basketball process has flaws, but it's fair.

Football is about bowls trying to make money. Nothing more or less. That doesn't equate to dispassionate analysis.

A. LSU is fine in this bowl, given all the circumstances.

B. SEC Teams are going to get whatever bowl Alabama determines they should get. C'mon, get over it. When Nick and the Bama AD select the schedule, permanent opponents, and non-conf schedule - who do you think we'll get????

Jeez, remember that the SEC has a singular mission - serve Alabama.

In the interest of fairness, you could argue LSU to Cotton Bowl with the following:

1) Rematch of BCSCG LSU-OU and related:
2) OU fanbase HATES LSU

I dunno I have no real strong opinions and figure either matchup Clemson or OU should have the same outcome (LSU domination).

From the viewer's perspective I don't care what the bowl is called or the notoriety of it. What I do care about is who is playing. LSU vs. Clemson is a tasty matchup any day of the week.

Assuming that LSU & ATM begin the selection process even, tell me what LSU is more deserving (I've given my list).

There were four teams with two losses competing for four spots (Cotton, Cap One, Outback and Chick-fil-A, in that order).

Against the other three two-loss teams, LSU was 2-0. None of the other three had winning records. LSU was also ranked higher in the BCS. LSU had the toughest schedule as the only team of the four two-loss teams that played four games against the other Top 10 SEC teams.

So LSU deserved to be treated as the No. 3 team out of the SEC, behind the two BCS teams (Which would mean Capital One Bowl) and no worse than the fourth bowl game (Cotton) if the SEC wanted to (understandably) protect Georgia.

By the way, I don't see the need to protect Georgia. An SEC East team is going to a BCS bowl, what more do they want?

Having said all that, I understand that the bowl process is not about dispassionate evaluation. It's a beauty contest. LSU loses that. Fair enough.

But let's end this beauty contest crap. The bowl system is outdated and useless.
