this would be payback time for us losing Saban.

The fact that he's been under the greatest defensive mind in CFB should speak volumes about how good of a DC he is or become. Saban wouldn't just bring in someone not worth it. Not to mention he's the 2nd highest paid DC in America. Clearly he's no scrub

And most of his defenses have been STOUT. That 2011 defense was incredible and how many shutouts has he had as a DC? IDK why people would hate this hire.

If he was just a puppet / clipboard holder, why would Bama pay him $1.35M? Why not just let him go when he wanted a raise and bring in the next puppet?

You seem highly agitated and irrational. Try to sleep it off and post again in the morning.

Why in Hell would a defensive coach leave a Satan coached team to come be an assistant under miles, who doesn't,t know jack shot about defense.

That's exactly why! His name hasn't been that hot for someone who coordinates Bamas defense because everyone automatically assumes that is Sabans defense. If he came here and did just as well then everyone would know it's his doing because Miles doesn't meddle in the defense. It's not that hard to see why.

By all this logic should Oregon have no promoted Helfrich because it was Kelly's offense? The coordinator is doing more than picking up donuts even when the HC has a heavy hand in the game planning.

Steele was once a successful defensive coordinator under Nick Saban, went to Clemson as the DC, then had to scurry back to the Saban nest after West Virginia left a mark on him so bad he got fired.

Muschamp on the other hand was successful, at least a defensive coordinator.

It could go either way, but in my opinion Kirby Smart is running Saban's Defense with his five star recruits. You remove Saban from the equation and Smart is a gamble.

Both very good points. I think he would be a great hire. There is a reason Saban has wanted to keep him around.

No way in hell this happens. Everything is bull shite until someone is actually hired. Les is playing everyone and at the last minute will make a mediocre hire.

Smart is an elite recruiter. He had a big hand in recruiting those five star recruits. Bring him here with the five star recruits Les has assembled and its not that big of a gamble.

Throw out names of potential great hires so you can make a mediocre one and piss off the fan base. What a diabolical master plan.

What does at the last minute even mean?

Also, how do you know what last minute even is anyway?
