Alabama DC Kirby Smart.
Hell no.

Not sure if he has the title of "Coach in Waiting" at 'Bama. Remember, Muschamp had that title while at Texas and got tired of waiting.
A school really takes a chance, when that coach is forced to wait too long.

It would be awesome if you guys get Kirby
A saban disciple would be an awesome hire
Familiar with SEC
Has experience
Young enough
Has energy
can recruit
It would be a home run but I certainly don't think it will happen

Les will retire or be fired in two years and coach in waiting

If Smart took the job, I'd be even more convinced than ever that Miles is setting it up where he can retire within the next couple years. Not only would they be offering Smart the DC job, but the HC job when Miles steps away.

Same. I got pretty suspicious when (if true) the rumor of the "Miles Clause" in the contract became such a sticking point.

But, Kirby is just a puppet...
Oh sorry. That will be the reasoning in a few weeks when Smart is still at Bama.

Let's steal a coach from a divisional rival we have trouble beating. Sounds familiar.
Very little brotherish.

So you wouldn't like the hire because he's currently at a division rival? Very dumb.

I also don't happen to think he's anything special. Saban is the best defensive mind in college football of this generation. Who knows how much Smart actually contributes?

Yeah. Chavis had a reason to leave. He wanted to stay at LSU but his job wasn't promised after Miles was gone. In 2-3 years...Miles is gone relatively soon...be it retirement or fired or promotion to AD

You think Sumlin gonna still be at aTm in 3 years? I don't

well you're an idiot then

Nonetheless. It's still better security if he couldn't get a guarantee from LSU to be there once Miles is gone.
Maybe he got some different languange in his contract at A&M, you don't know that.
I suspect that he knows something about Miles future plans and that's why the clause was such a big deal.

I would be fine with the hire but would be worried that he would want to switch to a 3-4 and if we would have the personnel to fit that scheme.

Your jokes are sick dude. Keep them up

Not like he couldn't get top dollar after Miles left? I don't get that argument
Posted on 1/12/15 at 5:56 pm to Dlab2013
Whose to say he would have that offer after Miles left and he's dumped?
Why not get a raise now and get paid instead of seeing what the future holds and MAYBE get a raise?

The fact that he's been under the greatest defensive mind in CFB should speak volumes about how good of a DC he is or become. Saban wouldn't just bring in someone not worth it. Not to mention he's the 2nd highest paid DC in America. Clearly he's no scrub

I think it's unlikely Kirby leaves Bama like why would he leave if it's not a HC job?
And I've saw many Chicago games this season...
The Bears fans HATE Mel Tucker for his lack of adjustments in game and for the players he has. Personally I'm not excited at all about this possibility.
