Very likely as he actually has experience fielding an elite D. But I never trust Coordinators for supposed gurus Head Coaches. Saban is revered as a D mastermind, are we to believe he just lets Smart do his own thing? It's like Carmichael for the Saints. I think he might just be Payton's hype guy.

I'll believe an insider report when LSU makes the announcement after the hire has been made. 
So far most of these insider stories haven't meant much. Plus there was talk we were in talks with Stoops and that didn't really mean much. It's very difficult to predict where this goes now.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was just an agent putting Smart's name out there to see if he can get a raise out of Bama. This is how these names usually get out there in the first place.

Not sure about Kirby because everyone says it is Saban's D...but he may not like all the attention LK is getting at Bama. You never know with high ego coaches...maybe similar to what we all just saw with JC. Think about it.
