Mansor would have been a maybe 2nd likely 3rd round pick in the draft if he would have went to the NFL but he's not good enough for LSU fans. Typical.

Vandy picked on him this year. Go look at the tape. So how's he going to hold up covering against 7 better SEC teams than Vandy this year etc?

That’s the first game of the season my guy. Outside of that game he played good football the rest of the way theirs a reason he was a top 2 transfer CB. Not to mention your ignoring me when I said his tape vs Miami, a much better wr room than vandy was good that should hold as much weight as one down game.

This would seriously contest that:

For one, he clearly lost his footing and two, remember in 2019 when Kristian Fulton got chased down by the Florida player to prevent a pick 6 in the FL game? That didn’t stop him from running a 4.47 at the combine the rest of his tape shows a db that flys to the ball sideline to sideline.

Maybe, but he's small too. I wouldn't count on production right away

He was bigger heading here than pj woodland was last year and woodland saw the field right way. Tyrann Mathieu was prob barely over 170 when he was making plays as a true freshmen. Just saying the kid is a corner not a lb or a DL you want him to get stronger but he doesn’t need to look like a bodybuilder to see the field right away

Replaced? Yes.

Revamped? TBD.

Jones and Swinson were really good on the edges this year. You feel like with what LSU returns there, plus the transfer additions, LSU should at least be as good on edge as they were last year...maybe (hopefully) better.

Inside LSU has bodies. But this year you'll feel like they will have "bodies" who can make plays. I'd say the DL (including the edges) is the strength of the defense.

You also feel pretty good at CB with what LSU returns + the transfers/recruiting class. At worst, they should be at least as good as last year.

Safety still remains a concern. Hopefully Cooley fills that massive void there and either the returners can step up or LSU finds one more safety in the portal.

The one spot I'm kind of surprised LSU didn't appear to consider addressing is LB. Weeks was really good last year. Everyone else? Meh. Whit will be back, but does LSU truly have any playmakers next to him? Perkins has struggled at ILB. Keys played ok late, but he still looks a bit small and really didn't make any big plays (INT tipped right to him notwithstanding). He may turn out to be really, really good. But I don't know if there is enough out there to say that with a high degree of certainty. West Weeks may start next to Whit, but in multiple years at LSU he hasn't done much of note.

I see people will down play a tip int lol, and Keys is 230 and whit is 228. Also are you telling me we saw Whit end of freshman yr he was really good but keys with less games arguably made more plays overall is not enough to tell?

We've got the firepower.

IMO the key to the whole season is the O-line. If we can control the clock with running game and short passing game, it will keep the defense off the field.
But that's where the versatility of the offense comes in. We also have a chance to be a quick-strike scoring offense, which means the defense will be on the field longer.
But from what I've seen of the defensive pick-ups - our defense may end up being the strong-point of this team!
That's the only spot I'm worried about - depth on the O-line.
That and special teams.
We've got to figure out a way to have dominant special teams. We have the potential - pretty good return specialists, and FG kickers returning.
Jury's out on punting and KOs.
If we somehow are lucky enough to beat Clemson, this could be a memorable year...

That’s the first game of the season

Which also means everything after that was against ACC competition or worse.

he clearly lost his footing

That’s because he was getting walked down by a white boy from Duke.

It's both. If you don't have depth, guys will get worn out. Add in the questionable secondary and it snowballs.

Not saying we don't need better S&C, but both need to be addressed.
