I wonder if the Advocate will have a bigger article for Gymnastics being #1 and beating the previous #1 team in the country, or will LSU baseball season preview steal the show once again?

I knew we had a solid first meet, almost scoring 197. Didn't know it was quite that good. This could be a very special year.

Huge front sports page spread in Friday's edition.
Message sent. Message received.

Lets see what happens in early March if they are still top ranked and Alabama comes calling. Could be another record crowd.

The depth of this team is impressive. They lost three marquee performers and remain a top five quality program. They have earned the right to featured coverage.

Jay Clark is redifining Breaux's legacy. That baw is the Coach O of gymnastics recruiting. I love the idea that he's the coach in waiting.

I think she calls it quits next season. this is a really young team, so I just think they're a year away from winning it all. Also it sounds like they have another top 3 class on the way

Good to be #1 in something! Hopefully we can at least win championships in Baseball and Gymnastics this year.

I am not suggesting gymnastics is a major sport that many follow, but it would be great to see for Coach Breaux to pull one out before she retires. She has taken a lot of flack for never accomplishing this, but it's hard. Would be a GREAT sendoff for her for all her decades of strong work!

She coached my mom, and my grandfather has volunteered to tabulate their scores since the program's inception, hence my interest in the program. While last year was frustrated, it's very impressive what she has accomplished with so few resources compared to UGA, Bama, and Florida. Breaux is a great ambassador to the school too.

Coach Breaux is a class act, while she may not have all these titles, she has LSU gymnastics in the national spotlight. We have really made a push over the past 5 years. We need to do whatever we can to make sure Jay Clark never leaves. I'm sure there is something in the works, with DD not going to be here a lot longer for him to take over after. Doesn't Clark have family in Louisiana? I think he loves it here though.

Considering his title is Associate Head Coach, I think there is little doubt that he will take over the program when Breaux retires.

She should retire, soon, by the way. Once she is in her 40th year she is essentially working for free since as a state employee she can retire with 100% of her income. She could continue working if she wanted, of course, but financially it wouldn't make sense.

I doubt it. The team hasn't even fully moved in to the new facility that she has needed for years. I am pretty sure that she will want to enjoy that for at least a few seasons.

Kennedi Edney and Rubby Harrold will be here next year, both are ELITE. Edney won AA in JO two years in a row. And Harrold will literally break records on bar at LSU. Talent level has only gotten better over the years.

I think Breaux will be here three or four years more max.

Harrold on Bars

I disagree. I think she has at least two, maybe four or five years left in her after this season. She'll want to enjoy the new facility and the numerous top-3 recruiting classes that the staff will continue to bring in. She is an excellent ambassador for the university and it is a shame that Gymnastics is having the upswing in popularity NOW so late in Breaux's time here and not 10 years earlier in her career. DD deserves a national championship more than any other coach at LSU.

I agree Jay Clark needs to stick around, I'd say for the next 40 years like DD has.

I think she will get one or two before she leaves, gut feeling. I have kinda felt bad for her, she's been unlucky in a way.
