He's not sub 6', no chance. He's a good 1.5" or so taller than C. Scott. He's about Murphy's height.

regardless, I remember watching allstar game he played in on espn couple months ago thinking to myslef this dude needs to put on some weight. Looked small in pads.

He's got a ways to go as far as weight. W/ the exception of Minter, the difference b/n HS seniors and college players is night and day. Loston looked like a child next to a guy like McCray.

This isn't necessarily to Books in particular, but has Jefferson's throwing motion changed any?

Ever seen the kid in person?
No, just on film. That, combined with high schools' tendency to exaggerate height--especially at positions where it matters--leads me to believe he's probably not more than 6 ft. tall.

From the video I've seen, it looked somewhat quicker

I think Jarrett Lee has looked sharp in practice before. I just don't think he has the instincts in the game. Some QB's are just better during the game and JL has not shown us that very much. I don't think it's something you can coach, I think it's something that's within each player to perform in pressure situations. I don't think Lee can do that. He's had a few games where he's performed well but he's looked unbelievably bad on so many occasions that it nullifies any good that he did do during 2008 games. I think Jordan has the instincts and Lee doesn't, pure and simple. I hope Les doesn't make the mistake of starting Lee this year because he's looked good in practice.

so if Lee starts, Les has made a mistake?

quote:A 1:1 TD:INT ratio is a pretty hefty pick machine. I mean, that's only .125 better than Lee's ratio from last year.
When?
In '99 when he went 4 tds/4 picks?

Anybody ever think that JL may be a great LSU QB, but just not right now. I'm saying he may even take another year to get his head in the game. It's almost like people are writing off his entire career because JJ and Shep are younger, and he doesn't have a handle on the game right now.
JL seems like the type who will be one of those seniors who comes in during the 2011 season, wins the championship, and people say, "Where has this kid been all along?"
I think the kid has a ton of talent, but he just knew nothing about running a college offense last year. Chances are, he won't fully be there either by the first game of this season. But I trust the coaching staff will have our best foot forward come this season. I don't JL studied the offense that much last year at this time. He figured he would have some time to learn the offense under RP, and he wouldn't get much PT until after RP left. He may have also been partying too much and getting used to college life as a QB on National Championship football team.
I just feel way more comfortable with JL and JJ as our two QB's, than just JJ (and now Shep) alone. I feel like we're really going to be a force for the next 3-4 years. How many times in the past have seen a QB finally settle down and start leading the team, and then be gone the very next year, only to have to start over again. That seemed to be our problem at the end of the 90's.
I feel much better about our position in college football than I did after the 2004 season, which was very similar to where we are now.

pretty good post.
It seems that many that post here on this qb situation have this idea that what a freshman does from the start (good or bad) is what they will continue to do the rest of their career. I have yet to understand this path of thinking.
Its amazing what ones personal bias will do to his or her posting tendencies.
There is nothing wrong with having a favorite. It doesnt make you stupid, racist, or an immature kid. I didnt realize that it is so hard for some of you to just be logical.

I don't see any way Lee starts the first game if JJ is healthy, the comments about how good Lee looked is from a small bit of practice in shorts and helmets. And I doubt many QB's would look better than Lee in pure throwing drills. On the vid on lsusports, JJ was pretty erratic throwing the ball.

This is the typical Keiland-apologist response. Why have practice, then?

It's completely stupid. I remember people saying the exact same things about Jamarcus during the '04 season--that he was too stupid to ever be a good quarerback, etc...These dumbasses refuse to concede that oftentimes players progress from their freshman seasons. Especially quarterbacks.
