Yea i have a brother who's a marine so i appreciate yall and everything yall do. That being said you're being very sensitive. No ones dissing marines we're just saying him being a marine is completely irrelevant to this story. It'd be like if they reported "and ten lsu football players beat up a guy who's parents were killed in a car crash." Well shite thats sad but its not like they knew the guy's personal history. And marines can be douches just like anyone else and it's possible this guy did something douchey to get beat up. Also possible he didnt.

i agree shoe the lawyer stuff is for money. The big guns will handle this and it will all go under the rug.
also the whole marine angle is silly considering its not like this guy was out in uniform. so it shouldn't matter what he is.

The Katrina guy?

He's obviously lawyering up to get money, not justice.

But now, the moment it looks like he might have caused a disruption in the football season, possibly through no fault of his own, he's no longer of any use to you. Everyone who would have been thanking him for his service is suddenly wishing he'd go away.

Why wasn't he in uniform? I know Marines, and they can be jerks. Why do Marines want special status? Why can't he take his beating like a man and keep quiet." This seems to be the common sentiment.
Even if all of these rumors turn out to be false, even if there isn't a Marine named Andrew, I've still learned something from reading all 200+ pages in this thread. I've learned that I don't have much in common with the average LSU fan anymore.
I for one do thank service people I meet for their service. It is an honorable thing to do.
But there are 2 factors that make us have to seperate some military personel from some average Americans or average LSU fans.
Both have instances where they are less than desirable human beings.
Just as the soldier that turned his gun on loyal troops they have LSU fans that are dispicable worthless human beings.
I dont think most here would turn their back on a soldier in the right to protect a FB player in the wrong, I know I never would.
But until all the facts are known people are taking the sides of those they know, thats just human nature.
No where in this thread did I see 1 person disrespect the Marines or any armed forces.
I salute you for your service but remember there are hard working people that pay taxes to make the armed forces possible, they too are providing loyalty to this country, just not the sacrifice our brave troops do. We all need each other to exist here.
That being said, thank you for your service, all the brave men and women that serve are never out of my prayers and always close to my heart. Their sacrifice is unmeasurable and truly selfless.

Agreed! If the Marines want to get revenge against the LSU football team maybe Navy should come play us next year!

Pete R. deserved everything he had coming to him. He was making Katrina jokes. Bad ones.

If what's being claimed is true (again I understand it's an IF), it's certainly more than a bar fight. We all just have to wait and see.
College "kids" have these kind of altercations. Particularly athletes. The world has evolved to where they are not as easy to hide anymore. It's really no huge deal and if no charges are filed will probably amount to a few one game suspensions.

I agree with all of this. I appreciate everything servicemen do but I hate when people think they should be treated differently than a cafeteria worker or grass cutter or secretary.

I'm talking about the suggestion that the driver has more severe injuries than the guy whose picture was posted.

Yep. Pretty sure he eventually signed up here and went off on everybody for ruining his life.

I don't think this kid is even dreaming of pressing charges. Not knowing the names of any of the players I'm guessing some may have an NFL future and he sees a goldmine. He could be hoping for some under the table deal to just STFU.

Yeah. That happens when people worship them as if they should be treated differently.

According to WAFB, and the driver, this is indeed the case.

Well if that is true I imagine some criminal charges would be filed. I suppose it would escalate at that point. Until then it will just be conjecture and some bar fight.

I can see where you're coming from... as former Army, I have been offended by quite a few comments in this thread. But, seriously? You think this thread is full of comments by the average LSU fan? Most of these negative comments are from people that are either in college, or recently graduated... others, probably never graduated from high school.
I feel reasonable certain that I speak as an average LSU fan -- I hope the truth comes out, and I hope whoever is in the wrong gets duly punished. As for those statements you described as the "common sentiment"... uh, you are completely wrong there Marine. By last count, there are over 67,000 members to the website. Your impression that the common sentiment of all 67,000 members is the same as a few -- your military career should have taught you by now to not judge the many by the acts of the few. I seriously question if you read all 200+ pages in the thread -- if you had, you would've read many posts that call out many of the negative comments that have you infuriated.
That being said, take care.

Being a marine is irrelevant as far as how things are handled. But as far as public perception go it's very relevant and very unfortunate. It writes the headline for the papers on its own.

exactly its great what they do but they can also start stuff or get into something they shouldn't. the big thing here though is no one knew he was a marine since he wasn't in uniform so its trash to even bring that up. id expect that from his friends like bzoner but people in the media like doucet should keep their personal hate for les miles out of it by trying to paint an inaccurate pic and say jj stomped a marine like he knew the kid was a marine.
